Samsung Galaxy S

Hey guys,

I'm trying to find out where to get this case: http://www.youtube.com/user/tech0StickyAsGlue#p/u/2/PVuskGkbaRM

He calls it the "galaxy s hard case" and it seems to be perfect for what I want. Problem is all the sellers on Ebay.co.uk don't ship here! Pi$$es me off, but ja.

So question is, does anyone know where to get it where they actually WILL ship to the R of SA?

Hope you guys are loving your phone as much as I am! :)

Come to think of it, if enough people want one, why don't we just import a whole bunch from Hong Kong? That is if we can find the place that makes them hehe :-D

Okay. Phone finally activated. Would you guys suggest I do the froyo update now or wait for the official update now? Related to that how easy is it restore data on the phone, settings, apps, etc? Do I have to redownload all the apps after an update?

The official Froyo update shouldn't be too far off so unless you're a technical person who enjoys fiddling with these things then I think it's better to wait.

Yes you have to re-download all apps and re-do settings after a major update. It's a pain :( . There is Titanium Backup but for that you need to root your phone, and it will have issues transferring 2.1 settings to Froyo.

lol @mxit! have you installed the voice app over samsung apps yet? It lets you dictate sms and email messages and control the whole phone with voice after a single touch, works AMAZINGLY in the car, even with background noise. I managed to spell out long sms while driving within seconds and without error. The gps is great too, finds signal within seconds. Perfect gps solution with copilot. Even managed to install speed cameras!

Hey Tim, what voice app did you use?

Samsung phones suck ass! They're slow and unresponsive at best, whatever you do don't get a touch screen.

I bought one and its awesum really really responsive and the fastest phone I have ever had, i actually typed this using it. I love it to bits.

Wow, way to quote an old post! :D But yes, I felt the same about Samsung phones until I got this beaut. I don't know how I will ever use another phone again... This little device has become my music player, internet browser, email client, gaming platform and just general try-out-apps-from-the-Market device. Oh, and it makes phone calls and messages as well.

And the best of all? It's a Tricorder as well! :D How's THAT for Geek Factor?

And.....are you also blown away, or prefer to go back to your iPhone 3GS? ;)
Nope wrong person U got - I had a 19footsack HP iPQA........... So my feeling is probably even more than you expected.

Hi there.

Dead keen on the SGS and have been tracking release developments for months. Love the phone, considering getting one on next upgrade.

Being able to remotely sync emails with our exchange server is secondary - but am totally concerned that my old Nokia entry level can sync outlook calendar, contacts & tasks via bluetooth but doing so on SGS is like running the gauntlet? Outlook --> Google Calendar --> (Kies?) --> SGS isn't an option on our control freak corporate network but I absolutely have to sync perfectly and as seamlessly as possible albeit by Bluetooth or USB.

Any thoughts from those with experience? Your input would save me a ton of hassles and unnecesary expense - thanks!

The Galaxy is on special at incredible connection for R5300 for those who want to get one cash.
