I then tried the odin route ... but the firmware download is a mess. First full download file was corrupt and I had to download all over again but never got anywhere near 100 MB since.
If you sold a known quantity of S2's how can you be surprised by the demand for ICS downloads?
Why didn't you download the firmware through torrents?
Like with all things Android all the struggles are left to the end-user who hopefully is a geek or knows one. People buy Android devices out of curiosity and because it looks so cool but then sit inside an ecosystem where OEM's just don't give a damn.
KIES is a total f-up Samsung. It downloads the new firmware and when done KIES disconnects my phone and can't get it to reconnect again. It then starts the download process all over again and we go through this cycle over and over again.

Never ever had these issues with Apple. We wait FOREVER to get ICS and then it is such a messy effort from Samsung. I'm seriously losing my patience with Samsung.
Kies screwed over a mate too. It's stuck on 5%. Did you just disconnect it, then try again?
Or do you need to boot into recovery mode and then format phone?
Please PM me a link if you can. Thanks.

Never ever had these issues with Apple..
Should it just alert me when I plug the phone into my PC and run Kies?
On MTN and nothing happens currently.
It was supposed to be today, but it seems the MTN firmware is late.
