Samsung galaxy s2 vs note

I just wish the manufacturers would standardise on ports and chargers. It's such a damn pain to work with so many different adaptors. The Flyer has this monster charger with a fixed cable and the port is unique. Samsung has its own port. Every charger has a different V and A. Why not make it all interchangeable?

I'm responsible for technology roll-outs so I buy stuff for testing and development. Tablets have a lot of potential and it is up to me to convince the organisation I work for by doing proof on concepts. The Flyers are doing very well but they have become unavailble so I'm now getting the Samsungs instead. Staff take the devices with them into the field to test and so far the results are very positive. The 7" formfactor is ideal for field deployment.

That sounds pretty interesting!

Ok my friend was been pushing the Nokia N9 is the way to go. He even said that its faster than the S2 and the Note and also there is a port for android for the phone.

ANyone agreed disagree?

He (and it could only be a he) must be talking about an N9 that exists in an alternate universe: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n9-3398.php
The N9 has a single core 1ghz processor, the GS2 has a dual core 1.2 and the Note a dual core 1.4ghz processor. The N9 has the same screen resolution as the GS2 but nowhere near the display quality and it's not even close to the Note which runs at HD-ready resolution.
Obviously changing the OS will invalidate your warranty, is that really something you want to do?
In summary pay about the same or more for a phone with 2 year old specs (compare it to the Galaxy S I not II) that you have to port over to get a decent OS? Seriously?

I agree with u but its hard to argue about it being slow when u see this video

Well thats not exactly 100% accurate as some apps like the games do enter a suspended state when you move away from them so yes it does have multitasking but it does it with some trickery.

If you just want to argue numbers, my HTC Deisre HD has 52 Applications open right now.

I'm trying to decide between the Note and the S2 as well, to be used as an internet browsing and media watching device (lots of sites and such blocked at work) and will continue using my feature phone for calls and sms's. Needs to fit into pockets, any suggestion on which one of the two?

I know MTN has the S2 on a R299pm Anytime 200 deal (sim with go into feature phone with sperate sim for data), any similar deals on Note?

Awkward because of the size when used as phone. My kids say it looks like I'm talking to a 200g slab of Cadbury chocolate with the hope that it will talk back. The size however makes it a much more user friendly device for me. The larger screen makes watching videos on a phone a lot easier. Web browsing is much better.

The Nokia N9 cannot even run WhatsApp, because the WhatsApp Devs said they won't be developing for a dead OS. :wtf:

The N9 is another "let's dump'em in South Africa" solution. Who in his right mind would take out a 24 month contract on a phone with no future, no updates, no software development, etc? But they are sold here ... and people take them for a 24 month partnership. Is there something I don't understand here?

No, but there's something a LOT of consumers don't understand...

I would take a N9... not as my main phone, more like a toy to try and hack and get Ubuntu running.

Oh and maybe you can look at it as a way to get Android on a Nokia but thats only for techies like me :)

Put the Note next to an iPhone 4 and you'll experience a very cool Wow! moment.

The question should be asked ... Why does the iPhone 4 cost as musch (or even more)? Why should I type on that small iPhone on-screen keyboard? How do they expect me to browse the net with such small touch targets? Movies are sooooo small .....
