If you are willing to wait, then the HTC Edge will be the fastest when it arrives. Worlds first quad core phone.
The Asus Transformer Prime is the first quad code tablet.

I see the Cell phone industry made a drastic change from the "Mine is smaller than yours" from a few years ago to a now, "Mine is bigger" attitude in a big way.

ie: WTF is it with all this 4.6+" screens... I want my 4.3" again, and no I dont want a 3.5" screen either so you can keep your S's with last years design.

Yeah, and with HTC's reputation for horrible smartphone battery life, I wonder if you'll be able to use it for longer than 2 hours?

Before my GS2 and Note I had the HD2 then Desire HD. No different to my Sammies.
Wifi, data and account sync 24/7.

Also had the Desire HD & now I have the Wildfire S.

Very different from my Galaxy S2. The Galaxy S2 can easily last a day and a half, while it is always a struggle with an HTC phone.

Guy next to me in the office has a DHD. No problems there either.
I always run custom ROMs though. I never stay stock. Probably why I never have issues. Even my Sammy phones barely lasted the day out until I went custom.

My opinion, get one of the android tablets and keep the iPhone as your phone. Why sit with 2 phones when the iPhone4 is aging quite well.

I would just wait a month or 2, a few good phones coming out. I can't wait for the new Sony Xperia S. With the claimed specs it should be the fastest Android phone out at the end of this month... (and best screen as well, 720p, 342ppi pixel density)

You can pre-order this phone at Expansys... :whistling:

Also can't wait- literally drooling to have a Sony phone that is actually good :)

Ordering from Expansys is just as good as waiting for SA release. You will wait about the same amount of time to have the phone in your hands.

I thought as much... Heard about their levels of "service"...

Dont get me wrong, they have their uses.

I bought a SE Xperia play from them for only R2000 but had to wait 3 months for the device to get to my door. Seeing that it was a second device and a decent price I did not mind waiting.

The Note is one awesome device. Most impressed I've been with any phone. The size takes getting used to but that extra screen real estate makes a substantial difference. It will never be a tablet replacement as a 10" screen is still way bigger.

Elimentals, give it a try. I'm sure you will appreciate it.

I probably will end up with an SGS2, its just that I developed a fear and dont want to fall in the same trap as last year where I got my HTC Desire HD exactly 1 month before the SGS2 hit the world.

And things like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458382 is not helping me either :)

Dangerous time to grab a phone now.

The new ones will start hitting the market in February, but not sure how long it will take to get here. Expect the first quad-core phones to arrive in the second half of the year....my best guess is the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be one of the first.

You can wait for the Galaxy S2 HD, it will have the same screen res as the Galaxy Nexus and faster CPU & should be here soon.

Mind you, I love my Galaxy S2 so much, I just don't care about the screen res. But you might. :)

There will always be newer more powerful devices on the horizon. My daughter has the S1 and it can do everything my S2 can and I'm sure the S2 will be able to do just about everything a S3 will do. Faster is cool but ICS is developed for current devices so as long as ICS is around my S2 and Note will be more than happy to deliver the goods. The Note is an S2 with a larger screen which suits me perfectly. The touch targets are perfect. I can type much faster with less errors and watching movies works really well. My Note plus my iPad 2 hits the sweet spot perfectly.

What happened to your Flyer?

I must admit I am very happy with 4.3" and on the subject of typing or my case swiping I dont really need a bigger screen in fact all I want is an upgrade to Quad Core with 16 gig of ram and very long battery life.

I'm lending the Flyer to a colleague of mine to try convince him of the power of Android. I bought two Flyers (both in use) and am in the process of buying another three Samsung 7" tablets ... all used at work.

Wow, how do you use so many tablets at work? Are they used by you alone?

I'm responsible for technology roll-outs so I buy stuff for testing and development. Tablets have a lot of potential and it is up to me to convince the organisation I work for by doing proof on concepts. The Flyers are doing very well but they have become unavailble so I'm now getting the Samsungs instead. Staff take the devices with them into the field to test and so far the results are very positive. The 7" formfactor is ideal for field deployment.
