Samsung Galaxy S3 rumours abound

Im sorry but there hasnt been any big innovations in the smartphone arena in the past 2 years to even get me slightly excited about these new phones. Bigger screen and faster processor does not impress me as all it does is give me shorter battery life, anyway let them bring on another iteration of the same phone.

100% with you there - still have my original HTC desire and see no reason to upgrade at all. MIUI flies along and the battery still lasts more than a day.
 
I'm due for an upgrade now so might as well wait 2 or 3 more months and get this.

The article say the event kicks off at 20H00 SAST. According to other news I have read, it is 19H00 GMT which would be 21H00 local time. Am I confused?

Daylight savings time. London is only one hour behind us at the moment.

I thought it may be that but my Unpacked 2012 app on my Note says 5 hours and 30 minutes to go. It is 15H30 now. This puts it at 21H00 still.

I would've expected this to have the A15 processor opposed to the A9 still. This is the Galaxy flagship model after all.

The RAM and GPU are [reportedly] the same as the S2's.

The S2 has a 720p display so anything less than that and I'll probably be disappointed.

This doesn't really sound like a big "upgrade" to me. Rather a Galaxy S2s ;) I hope I'm wrong though. I'm an absolute galaxy fan. We'll find out in a few hours :D

s2 has 480 x 800 display.
HTC one X currently has a 720 display
 
Mike, whatever they launch, your Note is still better. I'm not as excited about this as I would have been BN (Before Note).
 
well, i'm tired of BB... so i'd be quite interested in this model... i prefer big screen phones...
once i can compare to the Note, will decide.
actually, i have still at least 10months to go for renewal... so chances are that there might be even new models out by then :-)

I agree 100% with you BeVonk!

To date I have not managed to max out my dual core 1.4Ghz and in fact have it clocked at 1.2Ghz - so I don't see the need for the quad code proc (yet).

The only things that may sway me are if the rumours about the 12mp camera and 1080p screen are true. Then - and only then - may I decide to move on. Nothing else about the GS3 has me wanting to jump ship from the Note.

That said - If the camera and screen res rumours are true and I do go for the GS3, I can promise you I will change again when the Note 2 comes out :)
