Samsung Galaxy S3 rumours abound

I also have my original Desire and am due for upgrade mid July. It's running Oxygen (being a fan of stock) and gives me a good 24 hours use with about 3 hours screen-on time. For me that's good enough but I'm not really willing to take less. And with the 27 drops (and counting) it's had, it's picked up quite a few scratches round the edges :/ so I'm hoping to get a new toy. The One X looks great apart from some of the battery issues. Waiting to see just how much of it is REALLY software related. The only alternative to that is what Sammy shows up with tonight.

As far as specs go.. I don't need a 1080 screen. 720 is fine. just make it samoledmegaplusmultipy :D

The only things that may sway me are if the rumours about the 12mp camera and 1080p screen are true. Then - and only then - may I decide to move on. Nothing else about the GS3 has me wanting to jump ship from the Note.

That said - If the camera and screen res rumours are true and I do go for the GS3, I can promise you I will change again when the Note 2 comes out :)

I'm going to give the S3 a skip and wait for Note 2. I might go for the new iPhone in Oct. With ICS on the S3 I'm not expecting much no matter the hardware. Note set the standard for an upgrade very high.

How the hell do you improve on the SGSII? I think they've done a pretty good job. The hardware specs are mighty, okay 8mp shutter might be a bit shy of the 12mp figure being touted but with enhanced software mp is less relevant. 4.8" is at the top end of smartphone screen sizes so we will see if they've alienated users with a more modest frame and a penchant for 4-4,5". A lot of new software from samsung apparently. Hopefully functional and not bloat ware. Bigger battery, bigger screen, faster processor. It's potent. Form factor maybe a bit too familiar.

Anyway.
 
New iPhone is going to eat this one for breakfast. Better to wait for that or next Note.

I'm not jumping up and down about it but still nice.

One of my contracts are already due for upgrade. HTC One X does look good. Also the Xperia S, But the Sony is still on Gingerbread. :(
 
APoc84, not bad for sure but not as much as I was hoping for. The design doesn't have enough attraction power. The Xperia S beats it in that respect hands down. Pity about the Gingerbread yes ... but to be honest ICS doesn't bring much more to the party so it is still worth getting.

You're right BeVonk. The Note still rules the roost IMO.
 
Loads of awesome software enhancements, but that does not make the S3 special. It is software and can be incorporated into our Notes and S2 (give XDA a little time).
They needed to bring something special to the table regarding hardware and kind of failed at that. If you own an S2/Note/Nexus, then no rush to upgrade. If you own anything else then I would say this device is a go.

After upgrading my Note to CM9 official it is as smooth and fast as the demo's of the S3. So again... No rush to upgrade.

I was so hoping I was going to have sleepless nights waiting for the S3 to land on our shores :)
 
They would of course not better the Note with the SG3.

The kids must stay in line, not compete with one another.
 
I was not keen on the Note but once I saw it, I was sold. I actually like the big screen and it is not as cumbersome as I thought it would be. I agree with Bevonk, rather wait for the new Note or the new iPhone 5.
