Hmmmm please notice that Cell C does not feature in those R999 and up categories... because they are so cheap that the maximum they offer is cheaper than that. That should tell you everything. Cell C FTW!

That is correct, all the demo units at CellC (maybe a few exceptions) are the i9505, which you can easily verify by going to "About" in the phone settings....well....if they don't place the anti theft cord on screen where you need to tap on "More" to get to the setting :mad:
 
In real world usage, you wont see a difference in performance between the 2 versions.

A few exceptions are found though.
Battery life seems to favour the Snapdragon atm (strangely) , there are reports that the firmware is still not 100% for ARM' big.LITTLE processor.

Graphics seems to favour the i9500. The PowerVR 544MP3 chip is awesome.

Some of the previously "Tegra only games" are starting to appear on the market now, which is great. I suspect these are games found on the iOS market, and are now more compatible due to the similar design of the iPhone 5 chip and the i9500.

Also, the audio DAC is notably better on the I9500 than the I9505. Won't reflect immediately, due to Samsung locking down the code, but once it is hacked by the legends over at xda, expect an immense improvement.

Now that you mention it, if it wasn't for the great hardware (inside) I would not consider the S4 at all, Samsung is such @ssholes for locking down the phone to developers :mad:

Why would they want to lockdown the phone in any case. Casual users wont even be bothered by all the custom roms out there, and making modders life hell isn't a good way to uphold you reputation, which is starting to sink.
 
It is evident from our tests however, that the Exynos version of the Galaxy S4 is not much more powerful than the Snapdragon 600. Furthermore, the battery life performance of the Exynos-touting variant is consistently worse than the one by the Snapdragon 600 version.

We feel that the gains in battery life of the Snapdragon 600 outweigh the gains of the slightly better performance of the Exynos chipset. And since everything else is pretty much the same, we'd say that the more sensible choice would be the variant with Snapdragon 600. Of course, that would be valid only if both sell at around the same price, which seems to be the case as we are writing this.

Just got the Exynos - video is crystal clear, audio is good (even for me with bad hearing). The data bundle perturbs me - WTF am I supposed to do with 75MB of data, I gobble that in a couple of hours? Vodacom could have been a bit more generous with the data...

I dropped VC for Cell C. The model I got was the I9500. Getting used to Android after using crapberry but really happy so far.

I live on a mountain between two towns (Polokwane & Tzaneen). Cell C has no service here, Vodacom's voice works well here, and MTN is the data king. It is out of my hands because I need voice above all else.

I use Vodacom for voice, and MTN for data.
