Icons seen smaller as well, some slight changes.

Definitely faster moving around the phone and opening apps.

That alone is worth the 230MB download! Woo-hoo!! :love:

*I agree with other posts, the phone is stupidly fast now & battery life is still absolutely amazing.

So far, so good. 1:22 of use cost me 17% battery, extrapolated that gives me 8:02 of screen time on one charge. Overnight the battery didn't lose so much as 1%. The S2 I moved away from would've dropped about 60% and 10% respectively.

Pros
The screen is a manageable size for one hand
The faux leather back cover has far more friction in the hand than the plain textured plastic of the S2
The screen is seriously bright and very much usable even in direct sunlight
The interface is very responsive, much smoother than my Note 10.1 2014 Edition
The camera focuses bloody quickly even in low light
The battery is AWESOME

MicroSD slot - this was critical for me
I've rinsed it off under a running tap - I'm starting off slow before I try it as an underwater camera
It gets much better signal than my S2 and even my ooooold Nokia 6310i from the late 90s - the phone which set the standard for me
The settings menu, which I thought would be a nightmare to use, is actually a brilliant layout. Unused groups can be minimised
The digitizer has been kicked into overdrive and can detect my finger from about an inch away

Cons
The headphone socket is at the top of the phone. I keep my phone upside down in my pocket so from pocket to ear is one motion. I can't do that with headphones connected
The waterproof flap for the USB 3 port can be annoying and feels a bit flimsy
KNOX is a bastard, I cannot root without voiding the warranty. I have a feeling that if I root and need to send it back for any reason I'll have to brick the phone completely
Digital image stabilisation isn't quite as good as optical
The phone rests on the camera, exposing it to scratches. A recessed camera would've been better

All of these cons are as compared to the LG G2 which I actually had set aside for me. 16 GB storage without a MicroSD slot was a deal breaker though, it is far more crucial than all of the cons combined.
 
Ok get a spigen cover or similar, recessed camera that way :)

Bluetooth headphones?

I just spent about 10 minutes trying to take an outdoor photo that was out of focus. Eventually used an app to kill focus.

Knox does not affect device warranty. The knox warranty is a guaranteed security thing for the knox container.
 
Still not seeing any reason to root or load custom roms on this device.

Some reasons for me ...
Get rid of stubborn bloatware that revive itself (might have been sorted out now)
No more ads
No more Vodacom boot animation
No more Vodacom power down animation
Get apps from other cellphones without wasting data (and costs) on a cloud (I switch between N5 and S5)
Get SMS/MMS, call log and Whatsapp messages easily when switching between phones
No more Vodacom apps that revive itself (might have been sorted out now)
No more waiting for our operators for fw updates
 
Stubborn bloatware sounds like a good reason. Only 2 that bug me though are chat on and collectiv as when you disable them they go straight to your updates list on Galaxy apps meaning I have to manually update other updates.

Vodacom animations pretty much flash for half a second so no issues there.

What ads?

Not worried about data as I have access to plenty.

Do not care about logs but kies sorts most of those for me.
I kinda like a "fresh start" every now and then so I delete them periodically anyway.

Only vodacom apps that come up are with firmware updates then usually only 1 or 2 so no biggie.

Fw updates also seem like a good reason for a brand new phone but after Ane2 I no longer worry all that much.

Read what I said.

Knox guarantees data security. If knox can no longer guarantee the security of its container, then the knox warranty flag is tripped.

I have had the following done to a knox-tripped phone:

ADH screen repair
Motherboard/screen replacement
Another ADH screen repair.

ADHs done while running Omega. I flashed stock rom for the motherboard replacement, so they couldn't claim the custom rom was causing my wifi issues.
 
I did read what you said, it's in direct contrast to a LOT of threads and reports on XDA stating that tripping KNOX voids the device's warranty. Maybe you were lucky. I'm not keen on taking the risk.
