Samsung Galaxy S5

Smartphones are becoming more & more the only device we use all the time.

If I take my Note 2 as an example, I watch movies/series on it, listen to music, surf the web, WhatsApp - the whole shebang!

My laptop is only used to write Word documents, use Excel & burn music cds for my car. That's about it.

So if I use a device all the time, I'm prepared to pay top dollar for it. ;)

I couldn't agree more. My laptop only see the light of day maybe once a month. I use my phone for both personal and work related tasks that I need to keep track of. Mobile phones have advanced to the point where they can make things like laptops obsolete.

I also watch a lot of series on my Note 3, but I took the plunge and got a HDMI adapter. Going to try it out tonight. :D

I am also due for an upgrade soon...currently have the S3 but leaning towards HTC for the next one..price might be the deciding factor tho. Deciding factor last time out was the fact that I could not get hold of the HTC one X anywhere..

HTC sucks with software updates compared to Samsung tho.

Although this makes sense it is not my experience. I received way more updates OTA on my HTC Sensation than I have on my S3. I ended up loading Cyanogenmod on my S3 to get the latest.

Go check where HTC left the:
HTC Sensation VS the Samsung S2
HTC One X VS Samsung S3 (according to sources the S3 will get an official 4.4 update)

Guys, on the pricing thing... It's about time Samsung realised that they own the top-tier of the Android smartphone market, yet offer devices that are not really of that perceivable standard. I think a Galaxy series phone, with the build quality and finish to match an iPhone is what they have been missing.

I'm already due an upgrade (since the 5th of Jan), but I'm anxiously awaiting The Next Big Thing.... Was a little tempted to get the LG G2, but my Note 3 does just fine for now :)

The problem with the adapter route is: how would you control it from a distance? These look a lot more interesting to me: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EAD-T10JDEGSTA

That's not a problem for me, I have a 5m HDMI cable that goes into my TV and the adapter plugs into the cable. It's long enough to reach my chair so I have my phone in hand at all times.

The Hub would be nice to have, but it's way to expensive. Sure it's less of a hassle and no cables, but I'm ok with that.

Yeah, but Jesus, those prices are preposterous.

Now this sounds high-tech! :)

I hope the camera lens is recessed on the S5 ... I prefer no phone cover, but after 18 months the lens is scratched on my phone and pictures are pretty shoddy.

Friend of mine has shattered his Note 3's camera lens, but I doubt we'll ever see a recessed lens with 'us' forever wanting ever slimmer phones.

I've just decided to join in and get myself a S5. Going to stagger my contracts 1 year apart :D. Hoping this baby does not disappoint and comes out around March again. If anyone gets a hint at when pre orders open up. Please give me a shout! Definitely interested in getting one.
