Samsung Galaxy S5

Ordered it early March already. Surely pathetic service?

Going to have to take my phone back it is overheating badly screen is fire hot. Earlier was on 41 deg
Apparently i am the 3rd person to have this problem at the store
Was told i will have to wait a few days for a new device.... Totally unacceptable
 
First iteration of any new device = problems

If you're willing to brave unknown issues and problems just to have the latest and newest, jump right in.

Otherwise, if you prefer stability and no problems, rather go for an older model that's tried and tested.

Mine is running at 36 deg. But that was around the norm for my S3 too.

It does get a little warmer if I run it while charging but again this seemed to be the norm with my S3.

What you expect from a launch device. And with so many preorders why should they give u any priority for an exchange ?
 
Not also this vodacom LTE issue others are complaining about?
 
If you find an app, like I did, that does not cater properly for the action bar and still requires a menu key, you can still achieve this with the S5.

Just hold the Recent Apps button and like magic, the menu appears.
 
Another useful feature found.

If you are busy in an app and someone phones you, the incoming call displays in a small window over your active app, instead of taking up the whole screen.
 
I must say I am tempted to get a S5... (must be strong!)

I want something with a more premium finish though. Metal S5 where are you.

Why not just get a metal cover? Also, metal is so old school... :p

I hate ruining a phone by putting cover on it. I have been using Samsungs S3, S4, Note 10.1 2014 for the last few years and want to move to something with a better finish.

They are great phones but I hate how "cheap" it feels.

I really, really do not get this ... what feels expensive? I've heard this in car talk. Apparently hard plastics "feel cheap", soft plastics feel more "premium". Well here you have softer plastics. I'm holding it my my hands right now and honestly cannot fathom how a feel can be referred to as cheap.

My S3 - 1 year later and the paint is peeling off the plastic. My Girlfriends S2 did the same thing.

My Note 2014 - Out of the box it had imperfections in the silver painted "faux metal" plastic that goes around the tablet. It just looks cheap and nasty on a top of the range device.

Is that acceptable to you?
