I don't really mind as I don't really restart the phone unless I have to and then it usually ends up face down on a table somewhere...

Probably the most pointless exercise in advertising and branding ever.
Only people that see the branding are either new phone owners who just got the phone via a contract or 2n'd hand owners that either root the device or are already locked to a SP for some reason or another.

According to androidcentral, 4.4.3 will be rolled out later this month for the international version SM-G900F.

AND Geohot has rooted the S5 without tripping knox.

I don't have links to the above, but Google is your friend

It's not a device warranty. Knox is a certified security container system, and as such it warrants the security of the container. Rooting the device means knox can no longer guarantee the security, hence knox warranty void.

Just rooted Galaxy S5 with TowelRoot and can confirm my knox counter didn't flip. Awesome!

(If you want to check your knox counter on the s5, go into download mode by turning off the phone; then holding the home button, volume down key and power button at the same time. Follow the onscreen instructions to go into download mode, and you will see the knox counter number onscreen)
