Either way you are getting an awesome phone.
The S5 came with free gifts (ie free premium apps). This I knew. Something I hadn't seen mentioned in reviews... South African users get Navigon by Garmin free! I know there is Google maps installed but always nice to have a totally offline navigation app for when you have no signal.

The reviews seem to mostly say it is crap but I'll try it anyway just to see for myself.

Yeah, the Garmin maps is the first thing I disable on my Samsung phones, it looks terrible.
It simply cannot compare against Google Maps/Navigation, which can also do offline mode now.

Is it not true that you need to cache maps first with Google maps? Not much use if stuck in an unknown area without data... 
Navigon may not be perfect but I like a back up navigation system and it's free. I can track down other "free" systems but others may not know how to do so and may like this offering, hence mentioning.
At the end of the day navigation for me is about getting me to my destination. I'll test to see if the Garmin does this. Even if not so "pretty" while doing so

Still, its quite new, are they going to be like graphics card manufactures and make a new Galaxy every few months?
got mine from vodaworld Friday morning! along with the Gear 2 as a gift!
coming from the S4 i prefer the S5. the UI is so much smoother.
as for the gear, awesome piece of kit!! still deciding if i really need it, but very very cool, and a drastic improvement over the original gear! (might be selling this in the next few weeks if i find that it wont serve me any purpose)
also noticed that the S5 has a better wifi range, places where my S4 would loose wifi signal in my house the S5 still had a bar or 2.

all phone makers now seem to stick to a schedule, every year they bring out new model. someone mentioned something earlier, which I agree, with, manufacturers seem to stick to a schedule that seem too short for them to do proper R&D and come up with a proper improvement over the last.
That being said, I really like the S5 and my Gear 2
I read this Ars Technica review by Ron Amadeo last night. Obviously he's very critical (which is his job), but overall I find him to be making some good points. I played with the S5 in a store on Wednesday, and it seems pretty decent.
What do you guys make of this review?

He seems determined to want to find fault. His comments on the screen indicate this best. He seems to feel it is merely adequate. A detailed review, using objective measures, concludes that it is the best mobile display tested to date. I do not have the link on hand but I think it was "display mate" or something.

Oh, and this is not true about the fingerprint sensor either:

Don't read to much into his critical remarks - he's equally critical of the shortcomings of other devices.

This phone is far better than the S4, IMO, screen better, smoother , faster, fingerprint sensor very nice.
Its very light though keep forgetting its in my pocket.
Battery lasts all day so far, probably due to it being new.
Latest software is much smoother and just works better.
Overall very happy. How anyone can even put this near an Iphone????? You would have to be a full retard, the iphone doesnt come near it

I have been playing with it all day and am really starting to enjoy both the watch and the phone. I took several photos as well today and am quite happy with the results. The editing software is also awesome. I'll upload some soonish, gear and s5 photos.
