Ahem. I asked when everyone was all hyped up about this phone for people to report back on the guarantee in a few months. Predictable cracks starting to appear. Serious question : With all the great and interesting Android phones available now does anyone feel just a little ripped off by the s5 ?

I put my far cheaper lg.g2 up against an s5 and I really can't see a single thing I would trade it for.
 
I am still very happy with my phone :) not the slightest buyers remorse. Also very happy with the quality of the watch, not a single scratch on the face and I actually thought I put a ding in it a few times...

Don't you feel just a little like you are driving a very moderate, safe and predictable sedan ? Rather than a cutting edge flashy sports car ?

It's not a bad phone. It is just a little cookie cutter dull don't u think ?

Lol, I certainly don't. I'm very happy with my S5. The battery life is great, the screen is beautiful, the USB3 port is super handy and the IP67 rating is invaluable here in West Africa where it's pissing down constantly at this time of year. I should say though, I feel the leather Samsung cover adds a lot more feel good factor to the device and makes it feel much more 'premium' than with the vanilla casing.

I don't think there is anything I would replace it with unless the new iPhone radically mixes things up, but even then I don't know if I can do that closed system thing again. I've become so used to using my Sandisk usb/micro usb memory stick too much.

If I had to compare my phone to a car it would be closer to a semi aquatic all terrain vehicle with nitros and a drink dispenser next to the sound system.
Or possibly kit.

It's a feature packed smartphone. I am not sure what you expect. Perhaps you can put into terms what you perceive as a "cutting edge flashy sports car" in terms of a cellphone and then compare your opinion with the S5.
 
Midnight drunk be trolling your asses... he just be jealous he can't get himself some S5 love.... Still the best phone available in South Africa.

Can't wait for the Note 4 though :D

I have the option of paying in R1500 and swapping my phone for a S5 black 16GB LTE

I've had my phone from day 1 of it's release, just a quick question for previous S4 owners that upgraded...

Was it worth it?

In my opinion, yes, big time. I never bonded with my S4 although it was no doubt a lovely phone. It just didn't hit the spot for me, it sat doing nothing for a few months and my wife until my wife started using it after the death of her iphone.

But as I mentioned above, the screen, USB3, IP67 rating and bigger battery are worth the upgrade alone. Even putting the S5 beside the S4 and checking out the screen is quite an eye opener, the difference is quite astounding with the S4 screen seeming awfully dark in comparison.

Also, R1500 is a small amount to improve the resale value of what can be viewed as on ongoing investment. In other words you couldn't sell your S4 and add R1500 to the amount received and buy an S5. Also of course the S4 is only getting older and the value dropping.

I'd do it in an instant if i was you ;)
 
Seems a bit more responsive but also my ram seems to have lost about 110 meg.

Was at 1.81, it's at around 1.67 now
