How do I root this phone is it difficult?

Let's say something happens and I need to take it back to Vodacom can I then unroot it?

Does king root work? I used it on all my previous android device with success we, but was told it's bad...

If your on 5.0.2 then there's CF-AutoRoot for the S6.
If your on 5.1.1 then the way to get Root is to flash TWRP and then flash a Pre-Rooted Kernel like Unibase\UniKernel or Vindicator kernel.

If you looking for a good custom ROM, might I suggest XtreStoLite
ROM is heavily debloated but there's a separate Aroma package with all of the removed apps. This way you chose what bloat you want after flashing ROM.
Instructions on how to install TWRP via Odin are all in the OP.

You can always unroot by flashing back a stock ROM via Odin.

Warning this will trip Knox. FWIT - I have had Samsung replace the USB board on my S6. All done under warrantee while Knox was 0x1.

I haven't looked at rooting the S6edge yet. Seriously have not 1 single issue with it.

Kingroot roots your phone. It's not a custom ROM.

I suggest you do some reading on rooting and custom ROMs before you brick your device.

Rooting and custom ROMs are two different things. They don't compare.

Rooting gives you privileged control, while a custom ROM is a different operating system for your smartphone.

Thats why I say you need to do some reading before you divulge into rooting, or flashing custom ROMs, especially if you can't decipher the difference between the two.

All my previous android phones where rooted. And that gave me the freedom to do everything I need.

Now I know some hardcore android guys prefer to load a completely new rom.

So I was/am trying to find out what added benefits does a custom rom have over a rooted android like the S6 Currently?

I want to know why would I want to load a custom rom like AllianceMod or XtreStoLite Deodexed for example compared to a stock Samsung touchwiz that's rooted.
