Samsung Galaxy S6

HELP!

I deleted a very important file on my phone...been trying to restore it...but the PC software needs to you to root the phone...which I did with Odin and ROM I got from CF-root. Unfortunately I ended up with my phone on the Samsung Galaxy S6 page and at the top in red it says recovery is not seandriod enforcing which I believe means its been bricked. So I downloaded a stock ROM and tried to load that and it failed too...can someone please assist me?

Don't stress, I bricked my S6 plenty times but am always able to recover it. Your odin restore back to stock more than likely failing because the stock rom you are trying to flash is older than the current or previous rom you had flashed.
Go to www.samsung-updates.com find the latest firmware for your model (I'm assuming 920F) look for the highest changlist number or mosr recently loaded. I tend to just use any Vodacom XFV firmware, I know it's bloated but it's normally the most recent for South Africa. I normally debloat or flash a custom rom after anyway. Download and extract the firmware. It's very important that you use the vol(-) + Home + Power to get into Download mode - DO NOT use the reboot menu from with the OS or your recovery to enter Download
mode! Load Odin and flash tar file and your done.

PS: The red error about your recovery is normal so don't seat it I have the same message about my recovery and my kernel.

PPS: Now that you fixed your brick, if you want to root your phone it's a simple as flashing a new kernel via Odin or recovery.

So Monday i woke up and my S6 had a solid line running down the screen, some sort of screen defect i guess. Took it to the Samsung Repair Centre, lets see what the outcome is.

Gboss you are a legend! My phone is sorted out! That will teach me to mess around with stuff I have no clue about! So if I want to root it now - where do I get one of these kernels?

Just happy to have helped you out bra. There's 3 kernels I tend to bounce between for the S6.

Googy kernel is just a great all round kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/orig-development/googy-max-s6-kernel-coming-soon-t3196789

UniKernel is the "safe" kernel. It works across many different varieties and you can set it up for battery, performance or stock from the aroma installer. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...d-development/kernel-stockmod-kernel-t3100395

Arters kernel is for the more adventurous. Has some good features like only limiting the CPU to 2 cores when the screen is off, as well as colour inversion. I get great battery life, standby idle drain is like 1% every 4 hrs. But I get poor benchmarks with this kernel. I recommend you don't use this kernel if your a novice as going back to another kernel will require you to flash back the original graphics drivers or else your phone won't boot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...development/arter97-kernel-galaxy-s6-t3171246

Happy flashing :D

Got my repaired S6 back and the tempered glass cover i had on had to be removed.

Can anyone recommend a tempered glass cover which doesnt do the halo effect please? I cant remember what brand i had on. I got a Body glove one now and its horrible

Alright Gboss - I'll give it a try. But let me ask you about my real issue. I have lost a voice file, which was deleted when it sync'd with my cloud storage by accident (the sync priority was set the wrong way around and cause the file was not in the cloud it deleted it from the phone) and I need it back - I downloaded two apps Yodot and Wondershare Dr Phone. Any guidance, advice or comments?

Oh so you mean it doesn't take into account the curved screen and floats above the curve?

I haven't been in the unfortunate position where I lost files on my phone but I think recovery should work in the same manner as on a pc.
Then so long as you haven't written any new files over the same area the deleted file is you should be able to recovery it.

Disclaimer: this is a guesstimate as I'm not well versed in how file systems on sd cards are handled once wiped .

Kinda yes

The first one i had on sat nicely, this body glove one doesnt

Oh I see. Sorry, got no clue, I was just curious as to what the effect was cuz my body glove one is great, but of course it would be as there's no curve on the (Sony) Z3.

The standard S6 has no curve either, sigh

I thought the standard S6 has one curve and the Edge has both sides curved? (Just like Samsung to charge a hefty premium for symmetry) At least that's what it always looked like to me/what I understand the difference to be.

Nope, no curve on the normal one, hence the frustration with this screen cover not sitting nicely. Anyways MTN agreed and refunded me

So my S6 flat went for a swim in the Vaal River over the weekend... Completely dead!
Why is it I've never had to use ADH until now - and now Samsung does away with cover for liquid damage on the S6 :-(
R5,999 to repair!

Wait so you had to pay R5999? Or did ADH cover that? :O
