New rumors suggest the Galaxy S8 could have an enormously powerful processor and may launch ahead of schedule. The flagship may also ditch flat screens altogether, with comments by Samsung executives suggesting that all models will have curves, while sources claim the company has already started ordering curved panels in two sizes.

A late February announcement.

There's now some analyst speculation that Samsung might bring the release forward, in order to minimize the impact of having to recall the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

SamMobile is reporting the models are codenamed Dream and Dream 2. One with a 5.1-inch screen and another with a 5.5-inch display.

Samsung is making a big push into VR with its Gear VR headset and one thing it really needs to make the most of that is sharp screens on its phones.

Rumoured highlights include;

• 4K screen
• Snapdragon 830 processor (3GHz Exynos 8895 processor in some regions)
• 6GB of RAM
• Dual-lens camera (18 or 24MP wide f/1.4 aperture)
• 8MP front-facing snapper
• Iris scanner
• USB Type-C
• Smart Glow
• Dual front facing speakers

I for one might ditch the S8 for the new HTC (if we get it in SA.)

The lack of custom ROMs (for the Exynos varient) is what is making me look elsewhere.

The rumored specifications for the presumptively titled Samsung Galaxy S8 suggest that the South Korean smartphone will ship with one of the most powerful graphics chips on the market, ARM’s Mali-G71. This monster of a chip will be paired up with a 4K resolution screen (typically 3840 x 2160 pixels). That much power in both graphical ability and in computational power (with an octa-core SnapDragon system-on-chip) paired wit an ultra high definition screen suggests that the Galaxy S8′s secret weapon will be VR.
