People are so typically predictable and lazy. Take the time to go to a vendor and do your own research before having a fit over what some 3rd party advertises.
Those are the prices that MTN, Vodacom and Cell-C WANT to sell to the public so that they can make money by locking you into a data and minutes contract. But you can still get a Galaxy Tab without having to pay for the data/minutes. I was at Cellucity yesterday and said I wasn't willing to pay for the minutes/data, so what can they do.
I unfortunately don't have the print out with me but essentially, you can get a tab for R190pm (or so) with a pay in of R3600 (or so). This is over 24 months. OR you can pay the R190pm and also R160pm (or so) instead of the cash pay in. This doesn't include DATA, which you can buy prepaid rather, but works out to around 8k (or so) for the tablet. Like I said, I don't have the print out so those numbers are not 100% accurate.
If this is still too high you can stop moaning about it and order an Archos 101 for under 4k from expansys.co.za
