Used the Gear S2 for a year, it is a good device it does what is needed and pretty well, the bezel makes it so much easier to use. Used mine for a year but have just upgraded.

did u upgrade to the s3 ?

Did you receive all the updates for the S2 ? how much different is the experience.

the latest updates were supposed to give the s2 more s3 features

thanks will keep an eye out :) the black/dark grey also looks good

an i see that there are adapters for other bands as well for the "sport" version
I managed to grab one on carbonite.co.za.

I also have some rubber bands for gyming, so that the leather doesn't get all sweaty

FYI

I got a gear fit 2 yesterday and so far not regretting it.

I had notifications on and it didnt take me long to realise that i do NOT want a smart watch and what i need is a fitness tracker.

If i had taken a smartwatch, the battery drain on both phone and watch would have driven me up the pole. I cant handle notifications going off on my wrist all the time.

I'm using the fit 2 without connecting it to the phone and syncing once, maybe twice a day to get a view of my fitness details and progress.

And if i ever want some smartwatch capabilities, they are there in a minimal way as well... which is an added bonus.

It was a good compromise to make because i wanted the fitness stuff 1st and the smartwatch stuff as an add on. not the other way around.

My SO is also very happy with his Gear fit 2. He isn't a watch person and also got it for the fitness stuff.

i think we only got the classic and the black and white

try the samsung stores?

You are right, it is not available in SA - even though they posted it on their Facebook page. I have ordered it from Amazon now, and friends from the US will bring it over when they visit in Feb - paid $350.

It is too big, which is why I went for the S2. I really can't wait for smartwatch manufacturers to consider women.

Wanted to start a new thread, but hopefully I'll get answers right here. TL;DR in last paragraph below.

I'm training for long distance running events. Thank goodness I've discovered so early on that my smartphone places a burden on me after a certain mileage. I've tried armbands and other ways of carrying it, but it's uncomfortable. I went into a Samsung store and saw the different Gear S models (S2 and S3).
From these comments...I had no idea about the Gear Fit. Seems that the Fit2 will suit my needs adequately...except that I also want a smartwatch (played with the Gear S3 for a few minutes). My chosen app is Nike Running, but since their partnership with Apple (exclusive Apple Watch deal), I'm willing to export my data (or lose it all forever) and change apps if I must.

TL;DR I need a watch that I can take on long runs without a phone, and later on upload my results to an app for runners.

Yep, the gear will be able to suit your needs. The S Heslth app on the watch does it's thing and can sync with the phone's S Health app later.

You can also transfer music to it, and connect a bluetooth headset to it while you run as well afaik.

I got from wish - it's an app on the playstore. Will take 1-2 months to get to you, but dirt cheap and decent quality
