Samsung internet@tv

What is the best DLNA server for the Samsung TV?

The default Samsung PC Share Manager does not work. I can't see any of my media even if I disable Windows Firewall. I am running Win7 x64.

I've tried Twonky and Serviio and they work intermittently. Sometimes they don't even appear under the Sources menu of the TV.

I think there are very few DLNA phones, so you'll battle with displaying an SMS on the screen ... I think

I have quite a few running at the moment,
1. Samsun PC share - great manageable folders from TV menu, but restricted, and i think needed for Messaging...With TV
2. Servio - running ok, new version was released but yes it is intermittent...Free
3. Windows 7 Media player 12 (on homegroup) - Excellent as you can even wirelessly from a remote laptop or comp, right click a file and select Play to:> B650, then it will play up on TV, currently my fav....Free with Win7 Ultimate
4. Media Portal - Excellent TV server for HTPC, still getting the tv server to work, but the media share is reliable... Free
5. Nero8 - Media centre sharing is okayish and reliable, but i find it very slow with startup even on a quad core...Paid
6. Twonky integrated with Nokia OVI suite - I have set it up but dont like it as it is also slow and resource hungry, havent used many features...with new Nokia fones.
7. home media server old N97 - used to be free, but now paid..not good at all
8. XBMC - Great HTPC software if you have xbox, it will integrate well too, very good media sharing capability... free

Since you running Win7, id say do as i did, set up your libraries and sharing from windows explorer, in networking you should see the TV, if not allow media sharing on homegroup, then in media player 12 enable streaming. then make sure the TV is set to allow other devices to control it. I have it really cool, I can simultaneously set my laptop to stream from my mvix, to my Desktop PC, the desktop PC to stream to the TV, and from my cellphone to my Laptop, all through my wireless router.

I suggest you rather look at using windows media centre also free with Win7, the movie video browser is crap, but download and install an extension called media browser http://www.mediabrowser.tv/ and YAMM from http://mikinhosoft.blogspot.com/2009/05/yammm-yet-another-media-meta-manager.html

With these plugins Yamm will automatically sort your movie folders download DVD covers and synopsis for movies, actor info etc, media browser will allow you to view them like scrolling through DVD actual covers. i use this most of the time as my Desktop PC is connected via HDMI to the B650.

all DLNA phones were supposed to work with the B650 messaging, unless samsung is screwing us over to only buy their crappy phones. still cannot get my DLNA n95/n97 to work with TV

Just wondering if anyone tried the messaging facility with a samsung android fone if it works?

question with regards to trying to get my media streaming turned on.. When ever i try to get it on, it gives me the following message :

"windows media player network sharing service or a service that it depends on failed to start."

It then tell me to look under the windows services admin tool, which i do. When i find the Windows media player network sharing service and select "start", I get the following message :

"Windows could not start the windows media player network sharing service on local computr. Error:03 The system cannot find the path specified"

I presume that this means that it didnt install properly.. any idea how i can fix this?

yeah, i disabled it, restarted and i can now enable media sharing again.. but the tv wont see my pc still... sigh...

i hate networks...

Not that it's a huge issues at all - but this prevents the TV from auto tuning stations etc

That entire screen is greyed out

Step1: Get into Service Menu
Turn TV off
Press Info
Press Menu
Press Mute
Turn TV on
---> Service Menu will appear as TV turns on.
(All the steps must be done within 3 seconds)

Step 2: Turn On MediaLink
Go into "Options"
Change Medialink Type = Infolink ON

Step 3: Choose a country for Media Link
Press Return until you reach the top menu
Got into "Control"
Then into "Sub Option"
Make the following change:
Infolink Country = to any thing other than NONE, I chose Vietnam

Turn TV off, Turn TV on.
Press the Internet@ button. Surf Well.

Notes:
1. make sure you have configured the network as per the TV manual for this to completely work.
2. The weather will be for the country you chose in step 3, this can be changed on the widget.

Hi hjno72

After all these years, do you by any chance still have your screenshots of the original service menu? I "accidently" did a factory reset. My Android TV Box was working fine till the factory reset. Now, now sound through the HDMI cable.

YES, my ua40c7000 I bought in 2010 was still working well in 2018,.... till this morning.
