What processor and graphics please?I have a Samsung R580 and Linux works fine.

Hello guys. Sorry for throwing suc a wide net. I know there are many SAmsung laptop models....but I am slowly but surely starting to consider getting a new laptop once I have saved up enough.
I see that Samsung have nice laptops @ Game with I3 processors going for like R4599.00....but I am just wondering what the compatibility of Linux is like on Samsung? If I get a Samsung laptop with Intel I3 processor and Intel graphics do you guys foresee any problems?
As far as I understand it...the big problems normally come in with the graphics drivers....but Intel onboard graphics should be well supported in Linux right?
What processor and graphics please?
When last did you try? They used to say this about it, but in reality it can be a dog on old PC's. Don't even bother with the live CD.Any laptop that has more than 256MB of RAM and and Pentium 4 can run Linux.
In fact, I used to run Linux on my Dell XPS L502X (i7 Processor) laptop.

You still get distos that run on 486 PC's, not much functionality but it runs. On a P4 I think Puppy Linux should not do too poorly. You will not be able to run KDE4 and Gnome3 with compiz, but you will be able to use it still.
Anyway, back to the laptop.
install gentoo
Back to the laptop![]()
I have a Samsung netbook which runs Debian Squeeze and Ubuntu 10.04 with no hassles. I've even got all the netbook specific function keys to work. So I'm sure if there are drivers for the graphics chip, you should be Ok.
You know you could ask MS for refund on the Windows OS that was installed on the laptop?
You just need to make sure you did not activate it, then you either need to contact Samsung or MS and arrange for a refund.
Is he dual booting?
