Samsung launches Apple iPad rival

With Apple there is the iPad in two flavours (Wi-Fi and 3G) with a once a year product update cycle. With Samsung there's new versions happeing all the time and just when you think you've got the latest and greatest they bring out model ZSG5001-2P that's better. An iPad is an iPad but with Samsung it becomes a nightmare of alternatives and updated models. This makes me very reluctant to buy a Samsung product.

Good thing that it is your problem. If this is priced right, I'll jump right on it.

How is this a problem?

How is it Samsung's problem that you have an irrational urge to upgrade everytime something new is released?

Because he cares more about his social status. With apple he has the best model for a year, and with Samsung its only gonig to be the best model for like 2 months. So apple gives him more bragging rights for his money.
 
I particularly like that its android based. After owning a droid its hard to imagine anything else being better.

If you're going to be chasing the latest piece of technology every time a manufacturer releases some new ground breaking device, you're going to be either incredibly broke or miserable ... and I think the latter is more likely to be applicable.

When upgrade time comes for my PC, cell phone or the like, I am like a little boy and all excited. Plenty of research and decisions, scheming and dreaming, and then the all important purchase. But when I purchase, I do so without regret, as I know it's going to be a matter of months before my latest technology is dated. Fact of life ;)

Moving on ... and on a more positive note ... here's a comparison from PC World worth reading if the Galaxy Tab interests you.

Question ... I assume that it would be the perfect fit for the Samsung Galaxy S phone?

Android appear to be going places and the literal 1,000's of applications coming through make it very attractive.
 
Why are they showcasing it in Soweto? I'd think a convention center closer to where people live that will actually buy it would have been a better choice. And no, I don't mean this is a racist way.

... and it takes a few version (years) for Apple to get it right anyway.

The 1st iPhone was a joke and it took a few incarnations before we're at an iPhone 4 - albeit it with signal issues

The 1st iPad is pretty ****ty and will probably take a few more versions beofre it's up to the competition.
