Samsung Note 3 - Telkom SIM not registering

I have a perfectly good Note 3 which I want to use on the Telkom network. I have used MTN, Vodacom and Vodaphone SIMs successfully in this device.

My brand new Telkom SIM, which works in other devices just fine, does not register on the Telkom network.

Telkom can only confirm that the SIM is activated.

Any suggestions re settings on my device that I could play with?

Check in network settings if lte only is selected.

This is an old model pre LTE days, there is no LRE option. I have GSM only selected.

The note 3 had both lte and non lte models. I had both of them. The lte model had an lte logo on the back cover.

Is it a prepaid SIM or a data (specifically LTE) sim ?

Try the following:

Check simcard if it's inserted correctly
test sim on another phone
set phone to 3G only.

Ah, I think mine is a non LTE model

Try the following:

Check simcard if it's inserted correctly
test sim on another phone
set phone to 3G only.

Where did you get phone? Sounds more and more like CSC issue

Not sure what CSC means, but it is a phone that I acquired in SA and have used for several years on different SA networks. The phone is not network locked.

SIM swap has been done to no avail. This s SIM works in other devices, just not in my Note 3
