Samsung Omnia HD - i8910

Still waiting... not patiently

I am also fed up with waiting for this phone... i've been due for my upgrade for some time now and have been holding out for this phone.
Two consultants from MTN have told me that they expect to have the phone available by the end of August... another told me either the last week of August or the 1st week of September...

So let's hope it's out soon because it's already the 25th today! :erm:
 
Yeah im also waiting for this as this is a serious N97 killer .... just hope Samsung has worked out on their reliability though cos Nokia's are rock solid (most of the times anyways) and the only gripe with Nokia is their use of cheap materials ...
 
Hi Chil, this phone is going to be brilliant - I just wish the networks would get their a***s into gear...
I'm on my 3rd Samsung handset and haven't had any issues yet so let's hope they keep it up!
 
this is ridiculous.. how long do we have to go on waiting with no response from MTN or Samsung. Delayed launch, testing on the networks, no stock at outlets, what next..
 
i dont understand how people prefer the N97 over this???
But anyway its a good thing this way it wont be like them public phones(5800)
 
The public phones (5800) are now, what the 3310 used to be, nothing wrong with that, many people are happy with City Golfs, others _must_ have BMW or Merc.

Keep phoning...

It really is annoying waiting the whole time, but I'm going to keep phoning MTN everyday to check if the phone has arrived yet...
If I get any updated news I will post to inform everyone on this blog...
 
Ooohhh....

This is great news... the mall tour starts tomorrow so hopefully we can expect the phone to be out within the next few days.
I've never seen these mall tours before, does anyone know what the chances are of the phone being out within the next few days seen as it's going to be on the tour? :erm:

WTF is a mall activation? will the phone be available for upgrade or is it just an advertising tool??? October for Durban sucks.

I wish I knew what a mall activation is... and the 11th of September for Cape Town sucks too but hopefully the phones will be launched before the activation.
I think the mall activation is just a marketing tool to introduce the phone to the general public, and besides, MTN have told me more than once that the phone is being launched in the last week of August or 1st week of September...
 
Now if only italk will get their act together and port me to MTNSP i can get the thing on release..

As longing as i am for this phone i cant quite escape the rumor mill about the shoddy interface and build quality. Is this negative hype coming from hard to please tech journos or is there some truth?
 
You can't please everyone...

I think the complaints are just from hard to please tech journo's, although I could be wrong of course... I guess we'll only know once we have the phones ourselves.
You can't please everyone, no matter how perfect a phone might be there will always be at least a few people who have issues with it.
The waiting game for this phone has gone overboard though, the networks seriously need to make a plan... :(

Hey there, have you got anymore news on the phone's availability?
I phoned MTN again this morning and they still don't have stock...
I'm so fed up, complained on hellopeter again but I don't think I'm going to get a successful response.
The waiting is driving me nuts! :mad:
 
Don't believe everything you hear...

I have been told a lot of different things by different people from MTN stores and the Call Centres... do I don't really trust that they actually know what they are talking about.

I'm just going to keep phoning MTN every day to find out if they have the phone, and who knows... maybe I'll even get a decent response to my complaint on hellopeter (which of course I will post here if I do).

I also saw the ad last night, it was for the Samsung Jet which was released in June this year, which is a month after the initial release of the i8910.
Just another cherry to add to the cake that's p*****g us all off. :mad:

I would freak if I was paying for it and didn't have it, you should try to contact one of the big shots at MTN to complain...
 
yeah that's it "the jet".

I was assured by the guy from MTN "The Paddocks" in Milnerton, that he will have 1 for me. My upgrade only becomes effective from tomorrow:( had to get the paper work out of the way:(
