just got a reply from vodacom. the i8910 hd hasn't even been tested by vodacom yet so they don't think it'll be arriving anytime soon.
ps the cash price for an i8910 hd from mtn (for those who wanna stay on vodacom and just buy the phone from mtn) is R8700.

anyone know where we vodacom subscribers can buy the phone cheaper?

I saw Samsung omnia . In this phone very good features and 8 mega pixel camera. This feature is first time in mobile word. they work for 3G and good touch screen for user friendly.. so I will be waiting for update version for this phone..

Apparently Vodacom might not release this phone because Vodafone in the UK is not releasing it on their network, I think it was someone on this blog who said it.

Cheaper option for Vodacom subscribers who want the phone = go over to MTN :D Their service may suck but at least they've got the latest and greatest at the moment...

For those of you who contacted the first person who's details I gave you but didn't have any luck, I have another contact person so send me a message again and I'll send you their details...

I don't know what updated version our mariajones is waiting for, but why on earth would you want to wait for the phone when you can get it now?
 
Hey Liberty what firmeare does you phone have and is the gps on the phone free for life? Is it garmin? What came in the box? I might get this phone, ive been to an mtn store and they said they receiving 1 unit(16gb) on friday, first come first serve.
 
To all is there any other cheaper price for this phone at any other store than MTN or will any other store be getting stock soon? I want this phone badly but its too epensive at MTN! Please reply.
 
When is it comming out on autopage, nashua mobile or cell c? any store would be good.

Hi Momo,

I haven't heard of any other store that's going to be bringing it out anytime soon.

With regards to the details you asked in your previous post, here are the answers:
1. Software verion i8910]VIG1, Custom version i8910XFAIG2, Software version date 08/07/2009
2. The GPS software that comes with it is Garmin, it's fantastic (voice guided and everything) and yes, it's free for life :)
3. In the box is pretty much your standard content, phone, battery, charger, USB cable, TV cable, head set, pc software, quick start manual and the Garmin software. The head set is your standard one button headset, but this time the mike is on the wire that goes to the left earphone, which is much better, the button is lower down.
There is no memory card included but the Garmin software comes on an 8gb memory card that you insert into the phone. You can't take the memory card out if you want to use the Garmin GPS (I have tried copying the software onto the phone etc. but no luck) but the GPS only takes up about 900mb so you can use the rest of the space on the memory card for whatever you want!

I have been in non stop contact with everyone from the Midrand branch to the Pavilion service centre to the Durban/JHB regional managers. At present every single one of them have contradicted each other..

Remus i go to mtn in pavilion every day as well as westwood and all the other stores. They get annoyed with me coming there and told me 2 contact them rather. They are real fools, some say that they have it when they don't and some say that they hav'nt heard of it. Most of them mistake me for the i900 or the htc hd! F*uck im so pissed off! By the way where are you from?

Fantastic, thanks Liberty, that's very helpful. It's great that they give us a 16gb phone with A8gb card with garmin on it. I would have liked if added a pouch, cover or stand but u can't get it all. I wonder if that's the latest firmware? The price is way 2 expensive but i'm desperate so i guess i'll use my life savings and buy this phone.

It would have been nice if they added a pouch, but I think the iphone pouch should be a good fit for the i8910, I haven't tried it yet though.
The firmware is the updated one with the fix for the audio on the video recording, but as far as I've read there is a later update, although I think it's not available in South Africa yet but I'm going to try and check tonight.

Oh and by the way, if I phone the store that I got my phone from they'll probably still tell me they don't have stock of the handset yet and that they don't know when they're going to get it...

Im sorry but the iphone pouch is a bit too short for our phones...
I have been hunting for a good pouch since Saturday and have had no luck as yet:mad:
 
"We have been experiencing problems with our system in order for the stores to place the orders for this handset on your behalf but this has been resolved. Its currently stock take in the warehouse so they can only invoice the stock on Monday." :mad:

great another week to go!!:(

You probably have the second firmware, there is a 3rd firmware only available for hong kong and russia and it provides a 3d task manager and other small updates.
