SAMSUNG rubbish

i.e. no expansion tollerances when device heats up through normal use. The moment the device gets warmer due to environment heat or a warm battery/processor whatever expansion occurs warps the LCD panel.

I have the SGS I9100 not had one problem with it best phone i ever had . i think u have a monday phone first samsung i owned
had 3 smart phones before this all had bad software , absolutly no problems with the samsung . love the phone battery is the same as any other smart phone

Weird wonder if africa gets all the crappy reject products?
I brought in my SGS2 from the uk in like may/june.
Awesome phone, have had zero issues...
It's been rooted and lightning rom. Those changes have made the phone that much better.

But good luck to you sir, hope they get you sorted out so you can enjoy the phone and tablet again.

Nope, not true, imported mine from the UK so I'm farked afa the guarantee is concerned. It switched off by itself about 3 times a week and it always happened when I'm driving. Every time it happens the phone get very hot and the only way to restart it is by removing the battery first and then restart it.

Using a omnia 7 as a alternative while waiting for Iphone 5 to land.

If you check the thread on xda-developers, it affects just under 50% of devices so far.

Personally I love my SGS2. No issues with random reboots. Its been working flawlessly. I'm really not a fan of the Sammy tabs but the phone is fantastic.

That being said, I can feel your frustration. How about the HTC Sensation? My DHD was brilliant.

If it only reboots that will still be accepted, because the phone is still on/live. My sg2 silently switches itself off. It is only after you realize no calls for a very long period that the pennie drop and you find the dead phone. 7 Missed call and 5 of them are from the better half who think you busy fooling around, again. Not good.

Exactly. Same story here.

Heh, I have had an Omnia for almost 3 years now, with no hassles, and an aftermarket ROM. Plan on getting the SGS2 in December, hopefully I don't have this issue. Had similar sort of issues with a Siemens SX1 running Symbian.

Not planning on getting any sort of tab/pad just yet.

But yeah, BeVonk!, hope you come right soon, as I don't think Samsung products are that bad!.

Sad thing is Samsung stuff up all phone's not just Android.

I remember a couple years back, I got a Samsung Blackjack on a Vodacom Contract, was the worse phone I ever had and the service at was even worse. I went back to my Old Motorola Razor while the phone went for endless repairs until I eventually gave up. Actually thanks to them I bought my 1st iPhone.

Never looked at a Samsung device again. Guess they havent changed.

I have had a few Samsung phones and have been reasonably happy with them. Started with a D500 which lasted the 2 year contract, another 2 with the wife and a further year with the sister-in-law.

I'm now happy with the SGS. Luck of the draw imho.

Not very good to generalise all of the Galaxy S2's based on a faulty unit. This is the first samsung device I owned and I had no issues so far.....and im coming from a nokia device. If you go to the android thread, you will see that there are over 100 pages of happy customers with the S2.

You probably got stuck with one of the few faulty units. Yeah we all know the service in SA sucks, but if any of the issues with the S2 were widespread, they would have been picked up by reviewers etc.

As for the tablet, I will admit the QA wasnt very good because of the newton rings, but I hope the new 7inch tablet has it fixed.

My first two Samsung devices and both are faulty. What's the chance? My feeling is that the problems must be more widespread or I'm just VERY unlucky to be such an anomaly. Definitely not helping my migration from Apple to Android ... and most definitely not helping me become a Samsung fan. The "Newton rings" started about a week ago with intermittent appearances but it is now a permanent feature of my tablet. For such an expensive high-end device it is most definitely not acceptable. No response from Samsung yet.

A class action against Samsung for this "Newton ring" problem must be on the cards. It is a problem with approx 50% of the devices and this % can rise as the rings/oil often appear later. Replacing a device when a problem is as common as this may not solve one's problem ... Samsung will have to intervene on a large scale ... and that is going to be egg on their faces like never before. I don't want to be one of the design engineers on this one. This may well become a nightmare for Samsung.

Do you have evidence that 50% of samsung devices are effected with this issue? Half my company have samsung devices and just a quick informal query... no one is having problems with their samsungs and we have 2 S2`s on site (multiple tabs, and even an omnia).

50% of P7500 tablets (not referring to anything else). As per numbers mentioned on other websites incl. XDA Developers. Samsung will obviously not reveal the real number.

Aaah okay, we only got the older models here.

I've had a S2 for 8 weeks now, only ever had it turn off once (just yesterday actually), not sure why it did though, but it was just after I dropped it on my bed from less than a meter.
I'm running the unofficial KH3 firmware at the moment.
