It's being released in Europe in 2.5 weeks. Price 330-390 Euros. Expansies is importing at R5350!! Rip-off. I've been looking into importing but haven't found a seller that does international shipping for cellphones. No word on local release dates...

It comes out in June. There's a Samsung bada developers day on Monday so there'll be more buzz about the phone and its apps quite soon.
Do you mean released in SA in June? I know for a fact it is available as sim free in Germany on Tuesday, with contract one week later, in the UK Sim free on the 28th of May and with contract a few days later Germany, it's selling for EUR330 inc VAT (EUR277 exc VAT) so after import duties and shipping it should work out to R3600. Really curious what the local price will be?

It comes out at the end of this month. The media that attended the Samsung bada launch (http://samsung.socialmediarelease.co.za) received their units on Friday so you should be hearing about it a lot more from now. I get mine tomorrow
Galaxy S release
Unfortunately the Galaxy S will not be released in SA due to some software/rsa provider conflict, "I was told this by Samsung (Don't bother doing an import)". The other down side is that the Galaxy S isn't running Bada and does not have a flash for its 5mp camera; its screen size is the only real improvement over the S8500.
I am on back order and waiting patiently for my S8500 Wave...

No way this will be under R4k.. Probably more R5.5k. Looks lovely though.
My cost here in SA through my Altech connection is R3250.00, the phone will probably retail for about R3800.00 or R4000.00.
Well if Samsung SA tell me they are not going to retail the Galaxy S here in SA because of a provider software conflict, then I take their word for it. Try import one and see if it works... if it does and they dont release it here you should have an open market for distributing them locally. You wont get much support though.

I'll give you 3.5 if you can get me one ;-). Expansys has it for 4650, if I import it myself its 3800 but am worried about warrenty.

That's an import, been there for a while. Not sure what they do about warrenty...
