Samsung Software updates: Frustrations

Hi Guys.

Just wanted to ask if anyone of you have any certainty about whether Samsung plans on updating their galaxytab range to Jellybean? I bought my tab on contract and can't risk bricking my device through rooting if I am still paying for it. I feel SamsungSA has been very unresponsive on this question and cant give an outright answer. Will be glad to know cos I've been looking forward to Jellybean for the whole year!

Feel free to talk about any other software updates frustrations you may have with Samsung or other android devices

That would depend on which model/year you have.

I think the tab 1 didn't get JB, only ICS. The tab 2 has 4.2.2 JB.

My Galaxy Tab 10.1 is on ICS 4.04 I think, so yeah, Jellybean would be nice, but not essential I suppose for such an old Tablet

samsung release new tablets and phones, and totally shun their old clients with previous models. I wouldn't hold my breath. I got myself a Nexus 7 and get updates couple of days after release. Wont buy another Samsung phone/tablet again

I'm sure you should be on at least 4.1.2? My Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is on 4.1.2 at the moment so I would think the 10" version should be too at minimum.

EDIT: Ignore me, seems that sort of logic cannot be applied when it comes to Samsung and updates. Sucks to think my half price 7" gets a better update than the 10".

I think I mentioned that I used UK location so maybe that's why.

Got an s3 mini and I'm frustrated with the lack of updates. Im still stuck on 4.1.2

I wish Google / network operators would bring the nexus range to SA...

To be honest I have no idea how Android works but is it possible to update it OTA from an SA version to UK version?

Maybe the tablet was a UK one from the start?

Don't know as I bought it 2nd hand but it was updated thru Kies.It was not rooted when I got it but I rooted it and when the update message appeared on Kies I updated and left the 4.2.2 unrooted,for now.While rooted it would not update OTA.

Samsung SA SUCK with updates! Even their latest and greatest Galaxy S4 hasn't had an update since June, while other regions are getting multiple updates.
I decided to flash the latest Bangladesh FW on my GS4 and forget about Samsung SA. I had asked them multiple times when they'd update the GS4 on Twitter, they never responded. Useless!

I gave up on my Galaxy Tab10.1v getting updates after 4.0.4, went and got me an iPad4 and have been happy since, Android tablets are treated the worst WRT updates, Nexus ones being an exception of course.
