Yesterday I decided to spoil myself and got a Samsung T260 on the trade-in special.

Got home and set it up. Worked fine in Windows but when I wanted to test a game (CoD4) and after setting the native res in the game the LCD just died showing only a black screen.

Rebooted the Pc and switched LCD on and off. Didn't even show the Samsung logo as previously.

Have send it back for replacement. Now I just want to know if it could be anything I did or if it was just a bad unit?

Ai yai yai, Incredible Deception hey...
Did you try pushing the Source button? Did the light on the monitor come on?

The monitor on the light came on but that's it. I didn't press any buttons so doubt that's the problem.

Thing is that the monitor is suppossed to show the Samsung logo when switched on and then searches for a signal indicating HDMI, DVI and VGA - but it doesn't even do that (even if not connected to the PC).

Tried pressing the Menu button but no OSD shows either. Checked cabling and everything seems fine.

Almost looks like the backlight died if I'd have to hazard a guess.

My old LCD works fine though.

Oops... Should read 'light on the monitor' darn cell.

It's just strange that it happened when switching resolutions in a game. Now I'm gonna be afraid to try gaming on the replacement - could a res change have done it? I only tried switching to the native res.

I can't see how a higher res could be the problem. At 1024x1280 there was no problem on the old LCD. A GTX 260 should be able to handle 1920 x 1200.

No changing the res shouldn't do anything bad to the monitor.
Unless you really got a dud, I should think the source was set to auto. I think pushing the source button till it only looks for a digital signal would be a good idea...

Well I'll try it with the new one. I'm doubtful that the source could have been the problem though. At the least the OSD and logo should have shown regardless of the source.

I definitely hope that's the case otherwise I don't know what the heck is wrong. Just hope the new one will be fine.

I guess you just received a bad one, have distributed over 10 of these in the last 3 months - sent them as far afield as Durban and Kimberley (from Jhb) and not one has had any issues.

I just got details on the new 40", 46" and 50" similar to the T260's and I am dying for one. R50k for a 50" ouch

For the 10 mins mine worked I simply loved it. It's an amazing LCD and looks very classy even though it is a fingerprint magnet.

Will keep you guys updated once the new one arrives, hopefully later tonight. Better hold thumbs for good luck since I feel cursed at the moment :(

Free Vasaline included with every IC purchase ;)
But sure beats the listed price

Haha yeah, I was in there with my wife the other day and when I told her some of the prices and what you can get it for elsewhere she was horrified. How they stay in business I dunno seriously.

Nice monitor, enjoy it!
