Samsung Tablet for my son

Hi there.
I am looking to buy a Samsung tablet for my son. He wants a Galaxy Tab 4. But, from what I see on search results, it seems the "Tab" range has been replaced by "E" and so on. I did manage to find some Tab 4 10.1" with 3G and Wi-Fi but the prices are a bit more than what I bargained for. Can you suggest something I can buy for him at around R3 000. Must have 3G (at least) and Wi-Fi. Samsung will be my preference. I'm in East Rand but willing to buy in greater Johannesburg.

Why Samsung (if I may ask) as their tabs usually cost more than others.
 
I agree with you 100%. Was my son's choice. He has a Samsung phone; not sure about the model. Will it be OK to buy another brand of Android tablet?
 
Maybe ask him why he wants a Samsung. If you have Samsung TVs he may want to link them.
 
Go for the Tab E. It's a decent tab and the screen is nice enough.

For comparison, I've got a Tab S for work which costs about R7-8k, and my friends Tab E at half the price renders pdf's at the same speed.
 
After my Galaxy Tab 3 3G, I'm done with the Samsung Galaxy Tab range. The Huawei Mediapad T1 is miles better than the more pricey Tab.

The Huawei Mediapad T1 is meh compared to the Galaxy Tab 4 and Tab E. The Super AMOLED screen is sharp and brilliant for long hours of usage whereas the Huawei will leave your eyes blurry.
 
does it have to be a 10" tablet?
Makro have the tab 4 7" with 16gb card for R2.5k or the tab E 9.6 for 3k

Can you recommend a pre-paid deal to go with the tablet?

Hifi corp has a decent Hisense 8 inch tablet with an excellent screen much better than even a tab 4 screen for like R1400.

Go check it out,if my son didn't have a new ipad I would have bough him that instead,way ahead of the other cheap tabs with crappy screens.

He will hate a 7", its just too small for certain things... rather get him a 8" zenpad/hisense/lenovo a5500
 
Thank you for the post. But is does not seem to have 3G? But maybe I overlooked it.
