Thats what it says. I see on Sandisk site they offer 3 years, but thats region specific, for some reason.
I will register the drives and see what it pumps out on their site, but looks like takealot just offer the 1.

Perhaps Takealot's 1 year is just a generic period that is used as a placeholder in their templates and has not been updated with that products specific warranty? It would be a pity if the 3 year warranty is not applicable here... I will be surprised if any other SSD vendor offers less than 2 year warranty, especially in the 240GB size / price bracket. 3 years seems to be the norm for these and some even come with 5 year warranties.

Stunning how the prices keep dropping.

I guess as they become more and more mainstream the scale of economies will kick in and we will see further price reductions.

I wonder what it actually costs to manufacturer the things? I bet there's a significant mark up!!

You're right. There are only two good reasons, IMO, to own an SSD. One is the solid state design allows it to work well with ultraportables so no worries about mechanical failures (head crashes). The second one is the speed. But if you don't need the incredible speeds, start up times or stability, there are no benefits. It's then better to buy a second magnetic drive to use as a backup of the first to ensure data safety and still have money left over.
