Who to believe in this dastardly discourse of divergent statistics?

Outa has challenged Sanral to allow an independent journalist or auditor to inspect the computer screens in the e-toll operations centre, to see the exact percentage of e-tagged vehicles passing under the gantries. In the interests of transparency we asked Sanral if it would allow a Star Motoring journalist such access, and were refused.

We wonder why that is, if Sanral has nothing to hide.

Ali claimed that more and more people are registering due to being scared that their numberplate might be cloned. He went on to say that if a crime was committed and your cloned numberplate was used you will be arrested (because the Police will assume you committed the crime).

I dont really know how much lower SANRAL can go in terms of trying to get people to register?

In effect what they are saying now is, "please register for tolls, because errr your numberplate might be cloned, and then errr you might get arrested ummm, because someone might like commit a crime with your cloned numberplate"

Agreed. By the same ridiculous reasoning the introduction of eTolls resulted in the increase in cloned numberplates and therefore Sanral would surely be criminally culpable in the acts committed by criminals using said cloned numberplate :-p

So how does registering for an e-tag protect you from getting arrested if your number plate was cloned and used in a crime? Raise your IQ a little, Mr Ali.

Well, in theory, the registered car goes through with a tag and the clone goes through without, so SANRAL can attest that two vehicles using the same plates are being billed by their system, only one of which (the original) has a tag. That part is easy to understand. That our resident pigs could comprehend it, not so much...

You can clearly see how they use their PR to hide the fact that they aren't even making enough money for ETC, let alone for road maintenance.

They say they are making enough currently, maybe to pay salaries, but not to cover their debt, and not even to cover their road maintenance.

It's pretty obvious that they would toll the road, and never upgrade it, bringing it to state of disrepair, yet still charging tolls, I thought this system was efficient Allibama?
 
I have another idea for SANRAL.

They must say that 50% of the money goes to charity, and every time you drive under a gantry you are taking food out of someones hand.
 
Being registered for e-tag or updating your info on eNatis and then having your number plate cloned would not prevent the police from questioning you if aa vehicle with your numberplate is involved... Nazir is not smart enough for the job.

That is fine, but that has very little to do with crime, why would police even look in SANRALS direction? Who's to say you did not take out your etag to go commit a crime? You don't HAVE to drive under a gantry after you have committed a crime. His statement has absolutely no merit.
