Sansui TV's

Sansui 58" 3D LED now going for R7999 at Hi Fi Corp.

That is seriously cheap but would not touch it.

JVC also getting in on the act with low cost tv's.

Probably a bright environment and set to torch mode. A whole different ballgame when it's in your TV room in a dim room. You can only judge TVs in the latter type of environment (or what matches your own TV room).

So older Samsung 51 inch hd plasma from Game, or newer Samsung 46 inch hd smart LED from incredible connection (similar pricing)?

Depends on viewing distance. The plasma will unquestionably have superior PQ. But it's not FHD, so the 46" LCD will display more pixels, resulting in a sharper picture from closer up.

If you're sitting 4+m back, definitely consider the plasma, especially for its bigger size.

Personally I'd take the LCD for its FHD.

The Game brochure says the plasma is full HD (doesn't give model number though).
The LED is an F5500 model

Edit: plasma model, according to their website is PS51F4000

I might be looking to buy a cheap 50"+ LED sometime soon. I saw an Aim (Pick'n'Pay brand) a while back at a very good price, but I would consider any other reasonably priced make, anyone got one they can recommend?

Currently I have a 3 year old Samsung PS51E450 and the burn in on it is just horrible. I did enjoy it for the first two years I had it but I have to admit it was a bad choice to buy plasma. So I hope to get better mileage from my next TV.

I also wanted a 50inch plus TV. Took a 4 inch hit and bought a better screen that was a bit smaller rather than a bigger, lower quality screen

Let's see some pics.

I'm kinda done with Samsung for now, can't say right now I am happy with my purchase three years later. I would seriously consider a house brand like Aim or Logik or something like that provided I get some positive feedback around them. I heard somewhere they are discontinuing plasma?

well this is the current setup, so I can't really go for a smaller screen.
