Good day
I need your help to choose a best Insurance between santam and outsurance; I got same deal for 2012 Mercedes Benz ML350; premium of R893 with Excess of R4500;
Based on your experiences; which one is the best between these 2 Insurance companies?

In that equation, I would go Santam.

But even better is I would use a broker and not deal direct....it's not all it's not at all better as their own marketing suggests.

Any panel shop owner will tell you to AVOID Santam and Old Mutual at all costs!!!!!

They don't pay. Their rates are lower. They prefer used parts or pirate parts on all cars that are out of warranty.

Outsurance assessors HAS to approve or provide feedback on additionals new parts within 8 working hours. Santam it takes weeks. They are so seriouse about saving money on claims they let used part dealers and pirate part dealers bid to supply parts at the lowest price. Who ever wins the bid usually area specific gets the deal and as a panelshop you have to buy from them OR write a letter explaining why you can't if it's valid they will go to the next in line. Meanwhile you car is parked at the panelshop for 2 weeks while this back and forth is going on.

Outsurance pays panelshops within 48 hours after work completion. Santam and Old Mutual don't. Claims gets handled by Metal for Santam and Old Mutual. A 3rd party company that basically "buys" claims and pays panelshops for work done then claim the money from Santam or Old Mutual.

Outsurance takes a % of the claim amount on each claim for example of the repairer quote is R1000, outsurance pays R1000 less the excess less a small percentage depending on the panelshop rating and CLI scores.

Been with Santam for about 3 years through a broker thereafter direct for 2,5 years.. Haven't had any issues.
Used the free home service calls a few times for plumber and electrician as well. It helps save a couple hundred bucks there.

Bollocks. I cannot attest for OMI, but I think you are smoking something pretty awful if you think panel shops want to avoid Santam. Else, why would the self-same SAMBRA herald them as the best insurer of the year? For that matter, they decided that OMI was good enough for second.

Well R50 is better than nothing but if you can always get R100 for the same thing/job why would you want R50.

I'm not going to argue or try to prove anything. I voiced my opinion. I hold a trade in the industry. I work for a panelshop and work with the assessors rates and costing every day at work. Outsurance pays higher rates to panelshops compared to Santam and Old Mutual it's a FACT not my opinion. Outsurance is way more efficient when it comes to dealing with the repairer in getting parts and paying for repairs. Take pictures load it on their portal get approval within 8 hours. Santam not. Maybe 3 days and then the assessor will say no not accident related or no don't replace repair.
