SAPS cracking down on construction mafia

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is cracking down on construction mafias in the country, which threaten and extort money from construction projects, including fibre rollouts.

Responding to Parliamentary questions from EFF MP Mbali Dlamini, now-suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu said the police had established Extortion Investigation Teams.

Sorry to all the honest police men and woman out there, but this just sounds like the mafia is attacking the mafia. Maybe the police should start by hunting down those mafia in its own ranks before anything else. No one trusts the police anymore.
