SARS E-Filing 2015

It will be no less than 30 days. (Talking from experience)

Expect an answer about the 8th of August.

I just hope to buy a new pair of running shoes before spring with my tax money. And thinking now about it, it means I will give them 14% back again.

Also awaiting my refund...

At this rate I will be sure to ask them for the interest they owe me on top of my amount

Guy who sits next to me at work filed in the morning and got his refund that evening.

Just saw this thread now. I did mine on the 1st of July and had the money in my account within 48hrs (READ: had them pay of my debt within 48 hrs). Funny how debt just magically appear when it's my turn to collect from SARS.

it was your own money. SARS just kept it for a year.

I'll be honest and say that I didn't read through this whole post; and yes I probably am the laziest sob on the planet.

I have a simple question that someone with some inside knowledge might know.

I'm still a student, and part time I coach at a school. They deduct 25% as freelance tax. I have my IRP5 for 2015 which I then submitted at a sars branch. The lady notified me that I have unsubmitted IRP5s from 2013&14 (I never knew that there was tax being deducted from my salary so never bothered to ask for IRP5/payslip or anything - thought it was a pettycash type of payment as I only coach for n few months). Anyway, found out i can do the whole sars thing even though I am paid peanuts and get my 25% back, which for a student is a lot of peanuts...

She then processed all 3 of the IRP5s, said i should come back bring in 2013&14 IRP5 for scanning. Printed me a Statement of Account indicating all the peanuts i have to be refunded and it's all smiles.

My question is, after she added the 13&14 IRPS my "Selected for auditing" changed from a No to a Yes...
So...
1. How long does this take?
2. Why would they select me (they can see I'm fulltime student and I get paid very little)?
3. Is there anything I should do from my side (I submitted those other IRP5s; I don't have medical aid or anything like that, I live off of pocket money)?
4. When audit is complete, how long before my refund? (so i can keep off the 2minute noodles for a change)

Appreciate any feedback!

Basically you are being audited because your details were submitted for tax but you never filed, so it looks a bit dodgy.

It should be a quick and painless process once you submitted the relevant documents and then it will take a day or three.

After that a day or three for the refund.

My husband had to submit docs. Took around 15 working days for the money to be paid to him.

Your husband was luck - been 21+ days for me so far and still nothing.

Still waiting too. Called them and they said should be sorted by 4 August. I submitted 29 June.

I submitted on the 1st of July and was asked for supporting documents which I uploaded. I received a statement of account which showed I will be getting R16000 back. I received my medical aid tax certificate on the 13th of July which I completely forgot about so I asked for a correction, submitted those details and was then asked for documents for audit.

I submitted the tax certificate but the second statement of account shows they owe me R0.

I now have two Assessed Tax on my profile, 1 that says - R16000 and the other showing R0 but at the top op my profile it still shows - R16000.

I have yet to hear back from them and hoping that by asking for a correction did not mess everything up.

Finally came back to me today after submitting on the 2nd. No changes. Let's see how long for the refund to come through.
