Hi All.
Not sure whether this has been discussed in this thread already.
If I want to calculated the portion of my tax rebate that comes from my medical aid, for 2016, is it correct to calculate as follows?:
R270 for the principal member per month
R270 for first dependant per month
R181 for each additional dependant thereafter, per month
We are a family of 4. So basically my rebate that comes from the medical aid is R10,824 for the past financial year?
That looks right yes, plus any out of pocket expenses you may have had.

Got my payment before the sms telling me that I am being paid out

Capitec Client here. Refund is in! Dunno why I'm so excited about it, it's my own damn money!

Filed Saturday 2nd morning, payment came in this morning. FNB

:D :)

Transaction Details, look for electronic refund.

Thanks, I see why I do not have it.

I have an outstanding return from 2013.

Now I only started working full time in 2014, but did work for a promo company who made us get a tax number, so I think it may be that.

How do I submit my return for 2013? I do not see anything where I did my 2016 one.

Go to SARS trust me it will be easier

Request the tax return on efiling. If you only worked for a promo company, they would have most likely deducted tax at 25%. You could potentially get this all back but SARS might have added penanlties for non submission.

You can request a PSA (Penalty Statement of Account) to check if you have any penalties. Penalties would not show on your normal tax statement.

No need to go in to sort this out. if there are penalties I can assist in getting it waived or reduced.

Which kinda backs up my point that it's not bank specific.

Yeah makes sense.

Don't know why I thought they had one for each bank.

Then again I'm not so impatient as to worry about it in the first place.

True.

I got my 2014 return only on the 10th, despite filing it on the first.

About the people getting happy about it, it's understandable since it's a lump sum of money, especially if you didn't plan for it - even if it's your own money.

At my previous employer people got happy when they got their bonuses, which was just them deducting a percentage set by yourself from your monthly salary, and then giving it back to you in December. I assume the negative people on here won't grant them that happiness either.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but where can I request the return on efiling and the PSA?

I have had a look around and cannot find it, and do not want to mess with stuff I do not know about :)
