I would recommend first receiving your current return before changing banks. You will have to go into a SARS branch with your new bank account details. Make sure your HR captures your new bank account details on your 2018/19 IRP5.

Hm okay thanks, will probably receive my return in the old account then. Changed employers on 1 March, so my new employer doesn't even have the old account details.

Is there no way of changing the bank details on my current return which I haven't completed/submitted yet?

Im in the process of finalising my tax docs, and its fairly complicated with multiple sources of income, travel benefits etc and I must say I am really not looking forward to it, judging from the responses thus far.

Mate of mine has been waiting for 8 months for last years refund. SARS is point blank ignoring maintenance cost to a rental property (and the subsequent refund associated), but insists he needs to pay X for rental income received immediately, then they can look into the matter (He has all supporting docs, invoices etc etc).

What does one do in a case where SARS is trying to strong-arm you, denying / indefinitely delaying legit refunds? tax ombudsman?
Lodge a complaint with SARS (0860 12 12 16). If the dispute is not resolved then go to the ombudsman.

Hi have complained twice before and my complaints were resolved within 48 hours.

This complaint number is NOT for people thats being impatient with their pay outs so please dont flood the system wuth unnecessary calls to the number.

Verification done, and completed on friday

Request a new historic notice on your return and it should give you a date on that. You can also pull a new statement and check if the refund reflects there.

Nothing showing, only “pay” date says 31 Jan 2019

Will give it until next week, which will be the 7 days since the audit/verification was completed

You can change the banking details on the return, but then you will be expected to go into the branch to verify the banking details before any refund is paid out to you.

I think you are looking at the Payment date for when you owe SARS. The payment date at the top of the document is your deadline for paying SARS (if you owe SARS). Your refund date would be reflected further down. Please refer to this FAQ for the rundown: http://www.sars.gov.za/FAQs/Pages/2302.aspx
