SARS E-Filing 2018

Submittted docs on the 4th, got completion letter on Friday, This morning SOA says refund due tomorrow.

STILL don't have my IRP5 so I STILL can't submit yet!!!

How do you not have your IRP5 yet from your company.

They had legal requirements to submit the IRP5's to SARS already a couple of months before tax season even started.

Not much detail in the body except the below:

Nah I reckon it's legit. Got the exact same email last year from the exact same email address, ignored it as I had the same thoughts as you. Turned out it was a letter asking for bank statements and becuase I ignored the email i could not submit the docs online and I had to then go into a branch to submit. But for whatever reason i could not see the attachment properly.

Give them a call, ask them what's in the email.

Wish I knew. Checked my e filing and none of my data is on the IRP5 they have there...

Thanks for the info. I called Sars and they confirm the email is legit. Sorry for the false alarm folks. Strange that for this type of correspondence they do not send in the same way as their other correspondence.

No worries - yeah I was scared to even forward it to another email address to see if the attachment worked there - thought it could be proper dodgy. Cost me a few hours of my life

I would like to know if there is a foreigner (not a permanent resident) here who got paid without verification:

My experience waiting for the completion letter after submitting the documentation:
2013: 18 work days
2014:93 work days including the Notice Of Objection i filled. 9 Work days for the initial completion letter.
2015:152 Work days
2016:37 work days
2017:19 work days
2018: still waiting (21 work days).

The only time I didn't phone the call center was in 2017. And based on their service charter, I will phone tomorrow to escalate the matter.

To those who've been audited, did you ever get a request for additional documentation to be supplied via email to contact.central @ sars?

I tried sending it through, but their wonderful mailbox is full. I thought you'd have a request to upload the additional documentation on e-filing, but no such luck...

Any ideas?

Same here. I only started submitting from 2011, so 2010 hadn't been submitted, but they haven't asked for that.

Statement showed 2010 as outstanding today - submitted that as well. Now have to wait 2 weeks again?

The mail is legit ,there should be an attachment to it ,save it and then you can open the letter from SARS or alternatively log onto E-filing and open the letter from there. This is just the "front page" SARS use so that your details do not end up in the wrong hands.

2018/07/26 - Completion Letter received (ITA still shows Payment date of 2019/01/31)
2018/08/01 - Refund paid into account
