SARS E-Filing 2018

that's correct, it's actually 30 working days for straight verification and 90 days for disputes. It's just not logical to continuously drag out a verification until the very last day just for the sake of doing so. They obviously take advantage of additional interest earned by dragging out big payments... Just an inefficient process that can be improved upon especially when the taxpayer is clean and provides everything and more upfront

I was told it will take up to 21 working days for the audit verification to be complete.

Is there anyone on this forum who was selected for an audit and had the process completed yet? Would like to see how fast they are nowadays. :)

I haven't received the receipt of submitted docs yet. I submitted on the 26th.

I'm just going to go into a SARS branch tomorrow. Anyone know what time the Cape Town branch opens up? A few years back they opened from 6am in tax season.

I called the call centre. They have received my submitted docs and my case has been assigned to an agent. So they will contact me if any further info is needed, or I'll have to wait up to 21 working days for the verification to be concluded.

That's the standard response, what they did last year was wait until about the 20th day before requesting another piece of information thus prolonging your refund by another 20 ODD days.

Ok so 2018 seems to went ok on e-filing. My documents corresponds with what they obtained no supporting documents added.
I file and get a notice they owe me refundable X-amount, so I assume everything is ok by the looks of it.

Last year:
Last year I file with wrong medical claim, realise it, resubmit, got notices I did not understand, created a new form but did not submitted it, rather I went and visit the branch. They cleared everything and told me all ok, just have to wait.
So after a week or so I got a refund, no further correspondence, all ok.

Now I see theres a red reminder about last year to submit that entry I created(3rd) , so I assume this must have created a admin poef they yet to resolve by just deleting it as I then requested...

how long after this do they payout? i.,e after assessment?

My last review was in 2014, took 3 months
They also hurt me last year, filed in July, only paid in November. Disgusting delaying tactics and all sorts of tricks not to pay out until the very last minute when I
threatened them with Tax Ombud

I filed on the 1st, not selected for audit and no letters etc. received from SARS. Phoned SARS this morning and was told that my refund is being audited.. Is this what is meant by being verified? Anyone know how long it normally takes?

No, this is not what is commonly referred to as verification of supporting documents. SARS introduced a second layer (I think in 2015 tax year) where they select refunds to be audited, there is no need to submit any documentation, they will contact you should they require further information.

From experience it can take 10 working days

Thank you, much appreciated.

Filed on Monday around 5pm. Still no refund date on my SOA :(

Assesment still showing January 2019

Where does one find the Statement of Account on eFiling again? Every year I forget this simple thing :D

Option 1) On the left of page under SARS correspondence, click Request Historic IT Notices, Select the radio button "I want to request a statement of account".

Option 2), On the landing page when you log in at the top right, there may be a section called Statement of Account. ( Might not always be there? )

Option 3), Once it has been generated once, or sometime shortly thereafter a new section on the landing page will show at the bottom, Click ITSA

Option 4) In same new section , request Statement of account

Hope that helps.

Managed to get it with that, thanks ... but no date shown on my SOA? Just shows the refund as still owing, that's it.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP... SARS IS CLAIMING THE FOLLOWING... WHAT DO I DO?

hank you for submitting your income tax return for the 2018 year of assessment. Your assessment has been issued and reflects an amount of R0.00.

Please note, however, that the information provided by you in your income tax return does not match the information in the possession of SARS or your return has been selected for verification. Attached you will find a letter containing further instructions for you to resolve this. Please note that any refund which may be due will be withheld pending finalisation of this matter.

Please note that this amount only reflects your income tax assessment and does not reflect tax payable under any previous assessment or any other balances on your account. The current balance on your assessed account is R 0.00. For a statement reflecting your final balance (including all amounts payable or refundable under any previous assessment, refunds, payments, additional taxes/ understatement penalties, penalties and interest), please request your statement of account from SARS through the following channels:

WHAT EXACTLY DOES THIS MEAN CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS IN ENGLISH NOT THIS JARGON... PRETTY PLEASE?

"Attached you will find a letter containing further instructions for you to resolve this."

This year SARS is suppose to be able to tell you exactly where the difference is, I suppose it must be in the letter explained, previously they could not do it without you visiting a branch, ....
you get SARS itself,(Found the word=Backend)
you get SARS Offices you can visit=with specialist if required
you get SARS Call Centre=Who know what happenes here, I dont
You get SARS E-Filing,..my experience. My opinion is this is not SARS itself but an electronic aid linked to SARS in misterious ways.
You cannot visit SARS(inner structure-Backend) itself, but you can visit their offices, and previously I only had success from there.

What does the letter say-?
