SARS E-Filing 2021/22

So I got audited for home office, sent in docs, now they asked for more, in particular plans for the house to calculate square meters.
So how the do I get this, it’s going to take time and effort to go to Pretoria to get this.
Someone says I can do a hand drawn plan

Yeha I think go hand drawn then let them ask for more.

Just use Google maps top view as one perspective

Look I'm just saying try it you have nothing to lose. I have just submitted spreadsheets with details for 5 years no invoices etc. I did have supporting docs tho.

100% 5 times dates amounts etc. Never asked for more and these included crypto. They never asked for more even though I have it all I never submit more.

But don’t they request scans of the invoices?
That’s what I thought they wanted the last time I was selected for verification, after much scratching through mounds of invoices and scanning them that’s what I sent and it passed.

Nope never. I have that ready if necessary but never ever send it.

If they request it I will send it. But I send the detailed excel and nothing further is asked.
 
So the 21 days (assuming it's "working" days) are up this week. When should i start trying to contact them to check on the status of the verification and refund?

So this nightmare continues.
I have had to provide my employement contracts, 36 months bank statements, 36 months pay slips, IRP5's, etc twice.
And now guess what, SARS finalized the verification and started the verification AGAIN. They are asking me for the exact same documents I have submitted twice before

I think they do that so it looks like they stayed within their SLA's.

I was asked for the same documents 3 times this year
 
2 Annual returns submitted this evening - both triggered verification as they always do.

Both have crypto and one has a solar claim, both only had detailed spreadsheets provided along with IRP5 etc lets see how these play out.

Small outstanding amount already settled. These are not late I am a provisional payer.

Individual yes - linked to significant crypto trading/mining. Its a unique situation I have ensured the claim is defendable.

The claim doesnt need to be linked to a company but to trade income.
 
From what I've seen WFH can't claim if they installed solar to the home including the office.

I don't touch work from home claims at all. I have carefully crafted it all surrounding the trade/business.

I have planned for worst case scenario of them declining it but I have ensured the argument is solid.
 
And the f**kery continues.
Spoke to SARS last week. They say they have 1 more day to finalize my return. Obviously it wasnt done and I am still waiting. I told the lady it has been all most 12 months and she said that this is normal and can take up to 36 months, bloody ridiculous.
Tried phoning now and it seems SARS has adopted the Home Affairs working hours. 15:45 and an automated message say "our offices are currently closed".
Must be nice to be a government employee. Get above industry standard salary, work less hours and have a lower output.
Then again, I have my expectations too high, this is the South African government after all, how dare I expect them to do their job.

Would be interested to hear if you managed to get the solar claim through. Will be doing a similar one but for this tax period.

Wife's finalised this afternoon also very complex plus crypto etc just submitted spreadsheet only (not one invoice etc VERY VERY detailed spreadsheet though) thing that needed to be added was a log book yesterday and was finalised zero issues today. Mine I am still waiting for :p
