Filed in my tax return for 2010-2011, recorded my income as 0 as I really didn't make money in SA during that period, what supportive documents must I send ?

Did you pay tax on your foreign income? And did you earn that income while not in South Africa? I know my Dad just had to submit his USA IRS documents to SARS when he was working in the States and they had zero issue.

Shouldn't you have declared your total foreign income: salary, interest received, dividends, etc, and then claim exemption for it?

I've been self employed, so I have no concrete records e.g. payslips, employment contracts. I haven't paid tax on the foriegn income, I'm a citizen of another country and tax issues aren't as stiff as SA. Or do I need to prove I've been out of the country ? or do I de register as a SA taxpayer ?

Contraband? :D

Hmmm if you are a foreign citizen who earns majority of his income out of this country, I would suggest speaking to your consulate. They would advise you better or at least be able to put you in touch with a tax practitioner versed in local and the tax laws of your own country.
