SARS eFiling 2023/2024

I meant is there a technical / financial / legal reason to do it like that?

I understand that. Was just wondering if there are other valid reasons.
I always get something back instead of having to pay in, so it doesn't bother me.
Could it be that interest on funds owed will be billed from when you submit your return? Meaning the later you submit, the less interest will be paid if you don't settle immediately.

Interest. If it's a large amount, leave the money in your bond if you have one, and earn interest on it.

If its a small amount and you're keeping it a cheque account with no interest, then just pay it whenever.

I've prepped a few returns for the 2024 year already. However, these taxpayers are foreigners and the only auto-populated info is investment income.

There are more checkboxes on the return this year. They have moved away from radio buttons. See below.

For the guys interested in the solar claim:

I'll probably only start submitting returns for clients from the 15th onwards.

You can confirm here if you have been auto-assessed for 2024, mine was also showing 15th July, but seems I have been auto-assessed, awaiting communication from SARS.

Thanks for this. The form says I am being auto assessed but nothing in efiling yet. Guess I have to wait also for the notification.

I got this message, but I do not have any other incomes, just a normal single income earner. I'll wait for the 15th to see what happens.

Supporting documents issues have been the case for the last few weeks.

If you changed jobs and have more than 1 IRP5, then you most likely won't be auto-assessed.

I believe SARS will do the auto-assessments in batches. The status of being auto-assessed may change in the next 2 weeks.
