SARS eFiling 2023/2024

Auto assessed. Email notification thereof, came through just after midnight.

Surname starts with a B. I don't think the assessment order is based on the surnames.

Yeah we had theory that it was descending order of surenames as most of my peers that were auto assessed early had surenames near the end of the alphabet.... but it is busted.
 
Got auto assessment Notification at 8PM on 30 June.
Got notified of an outstanding return for 2010 on 2 Jul at 5AM.

Cant request a return older than 5 years on e-filing.
Now I have to go visit a branch, what a mess.

First appointment I could get 02 Aug

how do they query something that is 14 years old, where would you even find documentation for something that old

Wife was told they want a return from 2007.

Her work do not keep IRP5's longer than 7 years.
-Got a letter to that affect from employer
-Got an affidavit with the same info
-Made an appointment at branch

They cleared it.

Exactly my thoughts, if I recall I did not submit, as I was earning below the "submission threshold".
I have been audited numerous times over the past few years, never been asked for this. Looking at my e-filing history I was asked to file 2011 in 2015 after an audit, I was also below the "submission threshold" in 2011, that is if my recollection of what the threshold was back then is accurate. Ill wait for Aug to come and go to my branch appointment. See what they have to say.

This is their wonderful "AI" kicking in. Grasping at straws, the ANC needs to refill the gravy boat.

Received a mail this morning of a statement of account dated 01/03/2024 to 01/07/2024 showing a zero balance.

Don't know what that's about as I did not receive my auto assessment completion notice as yet.

My SO. Die geld is in. She was not even notified. Upon logging in, we see:

She has until October to challenge it. We're going to chow the money first and once it finishes, we will lodge a dispute :ROFL:

You must tick the box in the wizard "do you pay medical contributions where you are not the principal member". This will open a second set of medical aid information under deductions. You must complete the medical aid information, same like for yourself (name of med aid, number, deps per month, etc.). There is also a box for their Tax ref number and ID number to be included. You will be selected for audit when you do this. SARS will need an Affidavit from you saying that the persons are your parents and they are financially dependant on you. You may need to submit your birth certificate to prove that they are your parents. You will need to provide proof that you paid all the contributions, usually bank statements showing payment for each month. You must ensure that they do not claim it on their tax returns as well. Whoever is the principle member between them will probably have it preloaded on their tax return if they are registered with SARS.
