SARS eFiling 2024/2025

They chased me up last year for a return from almost 20 years ago...scraping the barrel as much as they can now .
Surely they can't go back more then 7-10 years? Nobody keeps documents for that long. Even the legislation especially with data protection , etc now means people need to destroy things that are no longer legally required.

Tried to file this morning. I was blocked due to this message: Please note that this tax return was not processed because SARS issued a Tax Directive No. ---------, but there is no Lump Sum amount declared on the return.

I moved my RA funds from Ninety One to Sygnia and the Ninety One. Now to fight with Nnety One to rectify.
I have this same error, what do you need to actually do?

Just open the return again, wait a minute for the page to load properly, then press "Calculate" again, then wait another minute or two and it should take you to the calculation page

After submitting my assessment this year, SARS asked me to complete a quick survey. The survey was a single question: "Were you auto-assessed this year?".

Surely SARS know who they've auto-assessed? Fkn hell.

Still have the error. Refreshed all data and tried again. No luck.

When I open my assessment, it says the company has submitted 2 tax certificates (when I can clearly see that we indeed only received 1) - can I change this from 2 to 1? Also, there is a part for AVC (additional voluntary contribution) to my pension fund, which I do not make - but the code 4001 is the same as what my company has submitted on my IRP5, so do i use the value under 4001 (which is my actual pnsion fund contribtution) - which is then duplicating the value?

It works now. Managed to generate my calculation immediately.
Also worked for me now.
Selected for verification. Have to submit my IRP5. Strange though, cause it was preloaded with all the correct data.

My auto assessment went smooth. Got the notification that I was auto assessed last week Monday at about 12:00pm. Logged into SARS eFiling, looked at the assessment, saw a "-" before the amount, smiled and logged out. Money was paid in Wednesday morning just after 07:00am.

Making me excited that I might get my July bonus in the next couple of days.
This would be my first return with 0 hiccups.

In any of your assessment calculations - i.e the pdf with the Rand value you must pay in or get out, does it list the medial aid amounts paid? It lists my retirement annuities but nothing mentioned about medial aid, even though the detail is in the actual submission with the Discovery certificate.

Just wondering before I submit.

Not sure if this is meant to be trolling.

In my case i found the issue. The tax directive issue is related to discovery messing up the submission when i moved my pension away. Was hoping that disaster was behind me but clearly not

Loving that I'm finally not selected for Audit and Verification1753164552593.png

Lol, I can tell you that back in 2022/2023, SARS asked my friend to provide proof of a Nedbank account he had back in 2007. He told them it was a credit card and that he no longer had any paperwork. Still, they insisted he get documentation from the bank. So, he went to Nedbank, and they gave him a polite “go away” letter. He submitted that to SARS, and it did the trick. I was honestly stunned by the request.
