ah didn't really mind.

Only logged on once a year to file and that was at work where we are forced to use IE.

So was no biggie for me.

Well, it's not like they have much choice any more now that Adobe is finally killing it.

SARS eFiling will move away from Adobe Flash

SARS has told MyBroadband that it plans to move away from Adobe Flash for its eFiling website.

Ummm...as most don't know..SARS does not design any of their own crm systems or even their eppbs, so the complexity comes through with having to initiate changes on systems they adopt but have little background knowledge on, ask the experts- Interfile-if they were still managing that system it would have been long implemented, and in my understanding..since I'm from that background..some things are easy said that done..only those that have worked with Sarsefiling will understand...myself being one of them...

Another issue which taxpayers reported was the need to view their return assessment form (ITA34) in Adobe Acrobat Reader. SARS also advises users to disable Chrome’s built-in PDF viewer when downloading the form.

SARS said its current Notice of Assessment forms are built on Adobe Dynamic PDF technology, and Adobe Reader is required to view their content.

“Generic PDF viewers do not incorporate appropriate viewing capabilities. The strategic intent of SARS ICT is to ensure that assessment forms are built on open standards,” said SARS.

Except Adobe is no longer updating Acrobat Reader for Linux, so you can't read the ITA34 (or any other correspondence sent via efiling).

Gov really should not be using any proprietary technologies, especially not when they don't work across all platforms.

I've been flash & java free for many moons now and don't use any websites that require it.
