SARS suffering from eFiling problems

It seems to be back online now and working fine.

But not impressed with the amount I'm getting.:wtf:

Yeah, but how do I know the rebate has been applied correctly/my company has done their job properly?

If your medical aid contributions are listed on your IRP5 they've done their job and if they didn't deduct the rebate SARS will calculate your tax correctly anyway.

You get a flat rebate now, R230/m for the main member and R154/m for dependants for last year, R242/m for the main member and R162/m for dependants this year.

Well if this is the case, how come i got back $$$ back last year, now this year i must pay in over 700. Nothing changed benefit wise on my salary.

Well in my case, my company doesn't do medaid contributions...

I just dislike different line-items being rolled up, makes tax more opaque than it really should be in my opinion.

^^^^

It used to be like that, but not anymore it seems...

I guess that just means more money will be available for service delivery by government, but I was kind of hoping for a tax refund again this year. Guess they will want me to submit "supporting documentation" after the first assessment promises me a refund with incorrect values which they know I will lodge a dispute against and after re-assessment I might end up getting far less money refunded. BTW that was what happened almost every year.

Apparently they had 20 000 submissions by 6Am this morning
that's got to be some sort of record

People desperate for money. I'm still waiting for a few IT3s for my RA's. So, mine will only be done next month. But the good news that the taxman, without the RAs, owe me :) my money :(

So how does it work if my medical aid is actually part of my CTC?

Then its all calculated for you if your company does the deduction for you..

I'm just battling to find out how it works if my company contributes nothing, and knows nothing about my medical aid..

That's what happened with my 2012 tax. I had a problem attaching supporting documents. I spent a long time on the phone trying to sort the problem out. In the end, I found a solution on myBB ... to disable Chrome Adobe.
Anyway, I'm still battling to sort out the 2012 tax mess-up. Although I'm ready to file 2013, I first want to sort out 2012.

Sigh, apparently they owe me R1.13...I was hoping for a lil' more than that >.<

If you are wondering where your medical aid tax credit is reflected:
Once your other deductions are completed and they work out the amount on your taxable income, the figure under "Rebates" will reflect the standard rebate of about +/-11k + whatever medical credit you receive. ( Mine shows +/- 17k which added the medical credit of +/- R5500).
They should be more clear about this. Took me a while to figure it out. For high earners, this new system actually sucks.

Has anyone received this error on efilling

"To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html"

Have the latest adobe installed and using firefiox, but even when trying to use chrome or anything else it still says this.

Cool thanks guys will attempt this today or sometime during the week.
