Clearly Dali Mpofu must be smoking something here.

At the heart of the entire application by Mr Moyane was the claim made by advocate Dali Mpofu in his written heads of argument that the application on behalf of Mr Moyane “deals with some of the most egregious violations of human rights by the State against a single human being ever witnessed during the dawn of democracy”.
Would it be possible for such language to result in disbarment?

I think those were Moyane's words, not Advocate Mpofu. A little legal hyperbole is not grounds for disbarment...
The report attributes the phrases I had in mind to Mpofu. I am not sure that you could call that 'a little legal hyperbole': I read it that the judge was unamused!

Point made. Very few people on this forum have the time to read 50 page legal reports.

AFAIK the only grounds for disbarment are dishonesty or financial misconduct, anything else is fair game. Other lesser punishments are possible.

Edit: A brief search shows very few disbarments in SA. Most common is for RAF claim financial malpractice.

Yes, as elsewhere they all back each other up.

It should certainly not be grounds for any sort of professional censure, outside of his humiliating loss/es and the growing perception that he's an idiot.

*edit*

Oh yes, I also meant to say, I really hope Moyane's fall from grace is hurting him. The absolute ****.

Great - so he got answer to his question "What have I done wrong?"
I wonder if there is enough evidence for criminal charges now. We will have to wait and see.

"Moyane could also face criminal charges as Nugent recommended the National Director of Public Prosecutions consider charging anyone involved in the awarding of the SARS contract to international advisory firm Bain & Co. "

what wrong has Mr Moyane actually done to deserve being stripped of all constitutional rights… including his rights to dignity and reputation?"
For starters, everybody paying 1% more VAT ...
