SARS' Tom Moyane suspended with 'immediate effect'

:crylaugh: :crylaugh: the whole lot are vrot. Even the idiots who think because a "pale male" was appointed things would be better are wrong.

Money does that to people, irrespective of race.

Quite telling that they could not appoint anyone from the SARS Exco to Acting Commissioner. They had to use a guy that was only appointed last week as Acting Exco member to Acting Commissioner leap frogging the whole Exco in the process.

Everyone appointed by Tom is tainted.

SARS Executive committee

May I humbly express my disappointment. I was expecting "Everyone appointed by/for/in/on/inside/supporting ANC is tainted and hence all ANC and their supporters have low IQ/rubbish" type of narrative.

Why don't you go to another thread and troll there.

Sorry to disappoint you. I'll try harder next time.

Good riddance. I had a friend in SARS up until a few months back and that man turned SARS into his personal fiefdom. He used the hawks to intimidate staff he wanted gone or whom he wanted to force to give him dirt on Gordan.

The Presidency announced on Friday that it had served suspended SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane with disciplinary charges.

The charges relate to alleged misconduct in violation of his duties and responsibilities in terms of the South African Revenue Service Act, Public Finance Management Act and SARS Code of Conduct.

Retired Constitutional Court Judge Kate O’Regan will preside over the disciplinary inquiry, which relates to alleged leadership and organisational failures.

President Cyril Ramaphosa first made mention of an inquiry into the governance of SARS in his first State of the Nation Address in February.

The disciplinary charges follows Moyane's March suspension with "immediate effect" pending the institution of disciplinary proceedings.

The statement by the Presidency then referenced two specific reasons for Moyane's suspension, as well as a "deterioration in public confidence" in the tax agency under his watch.

The two reasons cited were Moyane's handling of the investigation into top SARS official Jonas Makwakwa, and "the management of VAT refunds" which had "brought the SARS into serious disrepute".
