I would pick Willowmore over Mangaung.
there is so little interest in cricket out in Bloem, if it is not Rugby they simply dont care about it.

and the Students only go to Potch to watch because its an excuse to drink.

Benoni's outfield is poor. Pitch is also very hit and miss. Plus its lights isn't good.

Senwes is pretty much always a good pitch. Best facilities outside of the test venues in the country. Hence why the aussie team uses it as their base when touring here.

Senwes

Grounds with average lighting:
PE
Mangaung oval
Diamand oval

Venues with below average to poor lighting:
Boland Bank Park
Buffalo Park
Willowmore park

Agreed. This also provides the right spread of the game around the country. Potch is a superb venue, which I'd happily travel to go watch a game. Even put it on my list of towns I'd consider retiring to (cricket ground, golf, etc.).
 
Cricket South Africa Announces International Marquee Players For The New #T20 Global Destination League

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) today named the eight international marquee players who will be representing the various franchises in the first two years of the #T20 Global Destination League which gets underway later this year.

The eight international marquee players will be entered into a mini-draft with the highest bidding franchise owner having first pick and the rest following the same process. Franchise owners will be asked to consider the fact that some of these players, by virtue of having played for some years in South Africa, already hold strong ties to certain cities in South Africa.

Each franchise team will also be allocated a Proteas marquee player.

The marquee international players who have all agreed playing league contracts with CSA are:

1) Dwayne Bravo (West Indies)
2) Chris Gayle (West Indies)
3) Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka)
4) Brendon McCullum (New Zealand)
5) Eoin Morgan (England)
6) Kevin Pietersen (England)
7) Kieron Pollard (West Indies)
8) Jason Roy (England)

“We are thrilled by the calibre of the top eight international players we have lined up to participate in our new #T20 League, commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat. “They are all stars in their own right and will add great value to the franchise teams they will represent.

“This top quality list of players will set a high standard for our tournament. With each one of them a household name in the world of cricket, we can certainly look forward to some enthralling contests that will grip the imagination of fans in South Africa and around the globe.

“Coming from four different continents these players confirm the global interest we have already seen. No doubt this will grow as other international stars register their interest to participate in our new #T20 League.”

“The high level of interest from players and sponsors to participate in our league is proof of the great attraction of South Africa as a global destination. This is indeed very exciting for the country,” added Mr. Lorgat.

Kevin Pietersen commented: “I am delighted to have signed for the new Global Destination T20 tournament in South Africa. South Africa, as everyone knows, is very close to my heart. So being a part of something innovative in their cricketing structure really excites me. I am sure the public will support this wonderful creation which will showcase a lot of the world’s best players.”

Chris Gayle commented: “I look forward to returning to South Africa as I have very happy memories of my time there. This included scoring the first ever century in T20 International cricket when the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 was held in South Africa in 2007.”

Brendon McCullum commented: “I very much enjoy the conditions in South Africa and it was an easy decision to make myself available for this tournament. I enjoy the way South Africans play the game and the way their fans interact with the players as well.”

I am sad that Zaheer Khan is not on the list.
I know the little 18 year old is playing his first ever IPL, but he is fantastic to watch, and I think he will be fantastic.

Who.... Ermm...... Zaheer is a good 38 years old. You probably mean Rashid.
 
Remember these are only the marque players. There will be others in the auction.
Rashid probably doesn't qualify as a marquee.
 
Looking forward to this, just hope that they're not playing at Buffalo and St George's park. Buffalo Park on it's own would be bad enough but that would kill me.

A lot seems planned and rehearsed.

Even the limited time CSA allowed in their ads for potential bidders to express interests, and the limited time in the next period to submit bids, suggests that the eventual owners+cities might be rigged.

Many people are often proponents of democracy & capitalism, but when it counts they seldom apply those principles. Why didn't CSA allow market-forces to dictate everything? I think CSA needs to be very careful here because these things might just come back to bite them. I'm becoming rather skeptical of this succeeding in the short-long term.

Of these marquee players, only Chris Gayle & Malinga were really necessary as T20 icons(plus West Indies & SL have limited true T20 quality right now in case those two opted out). First up you want top quality players, not inactive internationals like Dwayne Bravo or nonactive internationals like Bmac & KP who would have made themseves available anyway and been bought later.

With India potentially not allowing their players to come through, how on earth can you fail to capture the early interest&large Asian market of Pakistan & Bangladesh if you want to attract serious bidders? So why is Boom Boom Afridi not among the marquee players? He outbatted the likes of McCullum, Gayle, Morgan, Watson, Samuels, Tamim & Bopara in Pakistan's just ended T20 Super League!

At the end of the day TV Rights value will dictate how much money the team owner makes, not "brand value & economic activity around the host cities" in our sensitive Rand market. Did KP,Pollard&Dwayne Bravo ever make the Ram Slam T20 rights attractive? NO!

My alternative marquee players: 1Steve Smith, 2David Warner, 3Kane Williamson, 4Ben Stokes, 5Sakib Al Hasan, 6Shahid Afridi, 7Chris Gayle, 8Lasith Malinga

As for quota issues...
In Amla, Duminy, Tahir, Philander, Rabada, Ngidi, Phehlukwayo, Phangiso, Dala, Paterson, Walters, Beuran, Leie, Shamsi, Maharaj, Parnell, Magala, Siboto, Farhaan, Zondo, Reeza, Mosehle & Davids - we have enough players to ensure a bowler-skewed compliance with "quotas" of 3 including 1 black(proteas or not), without reducing the quality or value of the competition at all. Afterall, these are SA bowling conditions and a lot of the other bowlers - seamers/spinners might struggle here anyway.

AB de Villiers, the ODI captain, and Hashim Amla are among eight marquee South Africa players for the inaugural franchise-based CSA T20 League to be played in November-December this year. This follows the signing of eight marquee international players - Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo, Lasith Malinga, Eoin Morgan, Kieron Pollard and Jason Roy - last week.

Each marquee South Africa player will represent a new franchise based in the city he's been associated with or "a city which he can build a strong association." The other marquee local players are Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, the T20 and Test captain, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir.

"The selection of our own South African marquee players has been very exciting. It will be even more exciting when we engage fans to help us to allocate the hometown hero to each franchise team," Haroon Lorgat, the CSA chief executive, said. "This announcement is another major step towards establishing our new T20 League.

"We must not understate the world-class quality of our own players. They are household names across the world, and our fans in South Africa will finally get the chance to see them compete against one another at home. Together with the international marquee players announced last week, the Protea stars will add great value to the new franchise teams they will represent."

Along with the marquee local player, each franchise will also be allocated one international marquee player, effectively ensuring the eight franchises will start with two marquee players ahead of the draft system that will help complete the 17-member squad.

Of course Richard Levi's a Kolpak, but Northants afford to continue to bat him so low while he doesn't bat, all in the name of protecting him from the new ball and seaming conditions? A mutual "divorce" is most likely sooner rather than later.
