SA's welfare system warning

It will take a while (perhaps 2 or 3 more ANC presidential terms). They're fostering racism to detract us from their crimes.

Very true, although I suspect it may much sooner than two more presidential terms.

Meh. The ANC will do as they please. And economics and maths should come here with their outdated non-progressive thingamajiggys, everyone deserves free stuff. Well, almost everyone, except the guys who got to give it.

Well where's the problem? They only see it as a problem because they see it on top of the other grants. The whole idea behind basic income is that you don't receive another grant and if you receive another grant you don't receive a basic income grant.

They know exactly how serious this is. They are simply not getting in the taxes anymore. Government printers has been printing at rates never seen in SA's history. They even stopped reporting official note and coin figures to hide the real amount of money they are printing and minting. Things are about to collapse in total. Tax income should be the last of their worries. There is a reason why the Government is pushing so hard for digital money. They know what is coming.
Well, not immediately. Short term tax income is unexpectedly up with a R130bn or so "windfall" due to the smallish boom in resources. A reduction in imports, probably die to covid, made BoP look ok, short term. Longer term is a real problem, resources may fade, debt is climbing, government salaries up, social grants up etc etc, Tax income?? R130bn isn't that much; social grants are R900bn odd and Eskom's debt R400bn or so, just to put it in perspective.

If it gets to that point, I'll join my fellows overseas. For now, I can still go hit the beach in the evenings and buy decent wood for braaing.

Eish! This cadre must read the communist manifesto again.

How many free things is this government providing to the poor? Shouldn’t the debate be on a restructuring of the grant system?” he asked.

“We are giving free basic services, free water, electricity, free housing, free child support grant … We are providing expanded public works. This year we introduced a public employment programme, spending around R11bn.”

It's not complicated... too few people working to support further expanding the social grant side. Countries that have robust and good social grant systems, have 95% plus of their people working. And those workers are not pumping petrol or packing bags in a supermarket. It's been so long that gov has been talking about creating jobs. Education = Employment = Better Social Benefits. Artificially inflated matric pass rates are not going to do our people favours in the long run.

One meeleon.. no wait.. 100 thousand.. no wait, that doesn't sound right, 10000, wait.. lets use big words like figmentation, ah bugger it just go with the lie that the ANC never promised housed in Alex..

Top quality ANC guy right there.. clearly one of the best they have.

One subtle but key point is the emphasis on "ramaphosa" anc, implying an anc under a different banner would do better, like a zuma anc or an ace anc.
